Denise	posted 2/6/04 10:02 PM     I guess the message is really for Kayla, Kayla I really don’t want to step on your toes about Ashanti because she is apparently one of your favorites. Many of us don’t care for Ashanti because she really is not a very good singer I am a singer so I am not making an empty comment I’m basing it on something solid, knowledge. Ashanti has a very flat nasal voice. She does not have a very broad singing range and she is unable to do any vocal tricks and to seal it she is not very qute to a lot of us. Some singers/entertainers make it on their looks but to most of us Ashanti is below average and needs all the glamour she can get to "look pretty". Yes Ashanti did go to "top" in a very short time, however murder inc. paid for her to be there. People were not so much dieing to see and learn about her. It was more like murder Inc. put her all over the place. Outside people did not care about her that is why she does not get the cover spot on many magazines. The title of princess of hip-hop and r&b was given to her by her own peep's, not fans. Also Ashanti and her family tried for a few years to get her a record deal but she reciewed a lot of rejection because she was so "raw". That is not what I’m saying that is what she stated and when records companies say your talent is raw that means not very good,your talent is not very polished,you need a lot of work, and we would have to put to much money into you to get you to sell, that's basically what they are telling you. As far as Aaliyah goes she was on top since "Back and Fourth". That album went platinum with very little exposure. Aaliyah ran from the media when she first came out because of the R. Kelly scandal but she still went platinum. Aaliyah also did not have to put out an album every year to stay hot. She could wait as long 3 years and still be the talk of the town and get interviews with top magazines without overexposing herself...So you are very wrong in stating it took her 10 years to get to the top. She debut at #1. Now in comparison I prefer Aaliyah because she had a very sweet pretty singing voice. She was a very good dancer and also very pretty, not perfect but I bet when Aaliyah woke up in the morning you could still tell she was an attractive girl. Also I saw real star quality in Aaliyah. Let me also add she was a very, very promising actress. Not to say Ashanti has nothing. I think she is a pretty good songwriter, I just think she should sell her songs to someone else. I don’t see why people would even compare the two (Ashanti and Aaliyah). Except for the fact they are and were both young black females in the same business, I see no similarities. Well maybe it's the names that make people compare them. As as far as the thug's protecting Ashanti, well all murder Inc has is wanna-be thugs anyway. Now Aaliyah had the love and respect from the likes of DMX and Jay-Z, really the entire industry loved Aaliyah. Remember when "people" did not want Ashanti to get that Lady of soul award. They said she could not sing, could not dance and she was ugly. Well now you know those "people" were industry people not the general public. Last but not least I do not think Ashanti is "involved" with Ja, I do think she is "involved" with Irv Gotti. That's why she has a deal in the first place. I do not know this part for a fact of course but, he seems to follow her around more than normal.Ive seen him with her at her our personal family gatherings, and why did he personaly have to hold the fan on her in her Baby video. Seems like a little hanky panky to me. I really dont think it's cool to put down another black lady who's just tryna make it, but if it comes down to Ashanti or Aaliyah I know who I have to go with.

Denise	posted 2/9/04 5:07 PM     I respect that..and the bottom line is Ashanti is still succesfull and she will probley be in the business a very long time since she can write good songs...and even if I or someone else dont think she is qute..other people think she is really, really pretty and variety is the spice of life. So I say keep doing yo-thang for the people who love it Ashanti.
