Just wanted to thank everybody who helped us celebrate all of the January birthdays of our friends and families, (although on some levels those terms are interchangable.) Our gig at the Midway on 01/28/06 was a great success, at least from this reporter's seat. Many, many thanks to all of you who took the time to visit with us and share in the moment. Very special and much appreciated!!!! A quick "shout-out" to our readers; we have, yet another engagement at this fine establishment on March 11, 2006, barring any unknown/unforeseen circumstances. Also wish to send a huge thanks to Randy (the owner and proprietor of the Midway,) for his support and belief in our band. Hope this is a mutually beneficial business relationship. It seems to be so far. A quick review of the evening and show follows. We started off with our "practice tune" and went from there. The kind and generous applause fron the gathered friends and family was a strong stimulant. For the record, I thought our first set went very well, as well as we can usually play and sing. Although there was a small problem with the monitors we strove onward and played with a little bit of reckless abandon. The spirit of the moment was palpable. All in all, I thought we did rather well. Kudos to Patrick, who took on a new amp and flew with it through the entire show, without a warning. Just shows what a real guitar dude is capable of. (No pun intended.) I think the second set was a little loose in places, but by that time, most of the crowd was in the pocket with us. It was a "most triumphant" evening and very enjoyable, from many aspects. We may be old nags,if not "Wild Stalyons", but that was cool for this night. we showed a lot of people that we still had major chops and we didn't even get to perform a bunch of tunes we had worked hard on. AAwwwww..... maybe the next show??? Need to leave this part open to others, as the title of this entry invites. Hope one and all had a great time. I know I did!!!! Peace and Posters. cw |

Any chance of playing elsewhere, like the Illiana or something? |

Flash, we are working on a couple of other venues, (most notably "the Corner" in Marshall,) as Al and Scott are retracing some of their old connections. Additionally, Phyllis is trying to set up a gig through Ivy Tech, in some kind of community outreach forum, although I should allow her to elaborate on that. I believe that potential show is in April. Just for the record, and to present it here on the Forum first, Al and Pat are accompaning our old buddy and former bandmate Jeff to Nashville, Tn in a few weeks to do a short audition for the guys that Jeff is working with now. Jeff's buddy and vocalist/composer, Danny Stultz, has been trying to break in as a songwriter. They are in some kind of a competition and required to play Danny's song live for some kind of judging commitee. It's a chance for Al and "the Sandman" to journey to the big city and possibly rub elbows with the stars. Talk to Al for further details. Regarding the Illiana, and any number of other local bars, the fiasco at Socks & Co. was enough to almost break up the band. We all have had negative experiences with the management at the Illiana in the past, so that is probably not a venue we will actively pursue. Should they approach us and make an offer we can't refuse, hey, that's another story. Personally, I would rather play the 4th Quarter. *Yeah, I know the same guy owns it, but at least the "day management" is flexible.) They also advertise in the Indianapolis market, featuring independent original artists, so that is a plus.We tried to get into the Verve, but that is a long story for another day. (Please don't bring that up to Pat, unless you want an earfull!) :0 We will try to keep you informed, as things evolve. Right now, we are good to go on March 11th at the Midway. I need to talk to Randy and see if he has a live stage venue in Paris we could book. Something to think about. Hope to see ya soon Flash. Peace, someday. cw |

A short tag to the previous post, Pat (aka the Sandman) says there may be an early opportunity for the band to gig in Terre Haute. Seems the folks that just bought "the Pastime Pub" (across the street from Headstone) are looking for live bands and have approached him about us being their opening act, i.e. first band. Pat should elaborate, as he has all the pertinent info. We'll stay tuned for this one. :0 |
