For all Oregon hunters, this is the thread to converse about your hunt. Talk about the parks, the artwork, the reason squirrels were chosen as the subject matter. Feel free to leave comments about the hunt in general, give me ideas to make future hunts even better. If have a specific question to ask, to report found art, or send pictures of your hunting, me please email me at: william.hessian@gmail.com |

So, this sounds fun...a friend and I might go look for some tomorrow out in Portland...but there are A LOT of parks in Portland...how on earth are we supposed to know WHICH parks will have these pieces of artwork hidden? |

Jersey, there are a lot of park in portland that is FOR SURE. my suggestion is to wait for the first batch of clues, sunrise tomorrow, and make some educated guesses on which parks some of the works might be at. some of the clues you may recognize certain parks and i think finding the correct park may be one of the biggest challenges in the many portland parks! good luck to all |

These are hard cules indeed! I'll try my luck today. I was wondering, can these pieces of arwork be found by poeople that are just passing through, or they are hidden? I notice that some may be in very popular and busy parks from Portland ... I'll go look for some of them anyway... Good luck to all the hunters!!! http://clearimageland.com Photography |

We decided to get up this morning and try to find one of the squirrels after seeing an article about the project on on of the local news websites. We looked at the photo and noticed that the one with the water looked like one of the reservoirs. We figured it wasn't the one in Washington Park because of how close the water level was to the fence. We could see the building and trees reflected in the water so we decided to go walk around the reservoirs at Mt. Tabor. The curled metal fence shape matched the ones at the reservoir so we kept our eyes open as we walked to the side opposite the pumping tower. We saw it stuck to the metal pole and almost dropped it inside the fence unsticking it from the metal. So the Squirrel Carrying Candy has been found. http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&geocode=&q=peninsula+park+portland+or&ie=UTF8&ll=45.511497,-122.595545&spn=0.001789,0.004699&t=h&z=18 Map of where we found it |

Funny enough, I knew that's where it was at about 1:00 this morning, but slept in and figured someone would have grabbed it already! Good work. |

My 3 year old son and I were looking for the candy squirel too. We got there a little before 9 to find the white sticky square. Glad to know we were right, but he was mighty disappointed. I think we will try for another one. It was a lot of fun (a good adventure he said). |

That footbridge looks like it could be on the trail up Balch Creek... or maybe in the Arboreteum? |

My son and I went back out in the afternoon and found the squirrel with the key at Powell Butte. It was so much fun. I also wanted to mention that I am quite certain that the blue object next to the squirrel with the clover is a drinking fountain - not all of them have the metal dot on the side but some of them do. Hope that helps someone. |

congrats chris lisa and kate! anyone finding a squirrel using the hard clues are indeed treasure hunting heroes. it was great to meet Chris, Lisa and the rest of you who stopped by to see me today at unth'a'nk park. Kate, and anyone involved in the hunt please come see us painting in Lents park 1-6pm tomorrow. Claim your bearded bunny prize, or simply hang out and chat a bit. We will also be painting on Monday at Grant park from 3-6pm before we pack up and head out to california for another art hunt. Stay tuned for the Sunday clues. I may put of few of them up tonight, as a bonus for those who are checking the site late tonight. however, the largest batch will be tomorrow before 1pm. Good luck. |

Yes, I'm certain that is a drinking fountain too. I searched today and will continue tomorrow, the clues were pretty hard today! thank you William for sharing your unique artistic flair with us. So many of us are enjoying your weekend hunt! |

Clue 2 seems to be one of the rose gardens (pink roses in the background). Also, the squirrel by the drinking fountain appears to be stuck to a stone bench - I haven't been to any parks with stone benches. I guess I have some more parks to visit. |

We decided it would be fun to go to try to find some others this morning and just take our pictures with them. Some of these clues are still pretty obscure to me - I guess I haven't been to those parks. I have some ideas about the others and the tip I can (how we found ours) is to really pay attention to whats in the background both for deciding where it is and figuring out where to look when you get there. Happy Hunting to everyone who is looking this morning. |

I have found the "Squirrel with Flower" in Rose Garden this morning. Boy, it was such a challange!!! But I enjoyed very much! I left a note where I picked up the treasure for other people that may look for it:" You have found the place, I've got the treasure!" :) just in case someone else will stop by later. A few clues for other hunters: - The picture with the blue water fountain may be in Willamette Park on Macadam Ave. - The bridge I'm almost sure it is on Lower McClay Park. However, this Sunday morning I have found the trail closed. It is a race going on there on that trail starting at the Thurman St Bridge going up on the trail where the wood bridge seems to be located. You may try to go there later. - The Squirrel on the stone may be in the Crystal Springs Rhododendron Garden on SE 28th Ave... Not sure but the leaves seems to be rhododendron leaves. Good luck to all the hunters and enjoy your art hunting! Victor http://clearimageland.com Photography |

I went to Gabriel park this morning to get the squirel with the leaf.I got there at 7:45. No luck finding it so stayed and let the dogs play. After getting home and looking here, I see it had been found. I looked over the remaining pics and had that Duh moment. Grabbed the dogs, and headed over to Lents Park and found the squirel with the coin right where a geocache had been hidden. Thanks for a fun hunt and now I can get back to geocaching. If you have time check out Dr. Who(has to be found before 2pm Saturday or 5pm on Monday) and Liquid Sunshine(bring 2 liters of water & yes the neighbors know all about it) |

Our family went out this morning, went to Overlook park, found the clover squirrel, took some pictures since we already have one, and went to play with Jack on the playground. While we were playing Russ showed up and found it. It was fun finding another one and especially fun to be there when someone else found it! Great website Russ. Thanks again William - what a fun weekend. |

i agree this is a great weekend. At this point, we are ready to hit up a random park. I have to admit, I'm out of solid ideas so its random at this point. If we can't find one today, I'm considering a quick try before work tomorrow morning. And if we don't find one, we will have the memory of trying! Russ what a great website log of your hunt. Kate you and your son are great hunters! William, you are doing a great job at keeping us entertained for the weekend! I'm really delighted to see such an active group of art hunters! we (me, husband and two kids) have been thoroughly enjoying the hunt as well, starting yesterday morning at the washington park resevoir, knowing from the clue that the candy squirrel had to be there or at mt. taber. we also were pretty sure the flower squirrel was in or near the rose garden but decided to wait for another clue for that one and headed out to mt. taber since we knew exactly where that one was. unfortunately we got to mt. taber too late! we did have a great time exploring and were inspired to try again today. however, no luck yet today either. we started at willamette park at 5:45 am thinking the clover squirrel might be there. couldn't find it so the kids played on the play structures and we went hiking at tryon state park since the kids thought the cherry squirrel might be there. on our way home i realized (too late again) that the clue for mr leaf showed gabriel park. duh so congratulations to all who were successful and a huge thanks to william for your wonderful idea and work. we might try again tomorrow but i'm thinking we might need to start even earlier because, as my six year old told us this morning, we'd better get going fast "'cause the early squirrel gets the acorn!" |

Well, according to PJ, my husband was right, the bridge is in Forest Park. We went there after our first stop this morning but decided that from the entrance we used Jack wouldn't make it to where my husband thought the bridge might be, so we just walked around and had a nice picnic. Again, spending time in a park we don't frequent - very nice. |

William & Kelsey: it was great to meet you. I've made a donation to your website to help keep your art alive! thank you very much for such a great weekend. I would very much like to see you back in these woods sometime in the future! If you are interested in ideas for future cities: I would think Seattle would make a good stop, they also have a very large art appreciation base. Another suggestion is to get the word out ahead of time in the regional activities calendars. Everyone: it was fun watching all the notes, triumphs, and missed hunts. I will "treasure" the experience! |

I had a great time watching the posts. I recognized the Powell Butte and Mt. Scott sites but I had to work Saturday :( I think this was a great idea and I think that maybe other artisans in the area could do the same thing... Great job to all who found the sites and the art... Thanks William for the weekend fun. |
