when a thread reaches 50 posts it gets automatically closed. this is the continuation of the thread!
I found that roadside park during my search for new and interesting parks. I am really happy about it, since I also spend 26 years driving right by, biking right by that park never knowing it was there. so i am very happy to have you all see it too!
Great job on the hunt.
Only a few more left to go.
William

william hessian posted 6/11/08 3:24 PM

BIG UPDATE! (repeated from last thread)
I have checked on the remaining artworks.
Amazingly 3 out of the 4 are still in their original locations, maybe soggy but more or less unharmed.
One of the clues yesterday is of the lost artwork. At the SLP Junior High's Lamplighter park, underneath the volleyball stand there once was a Trianlge artwork hidden there. It is no longer there, and we search the area to see if it had been blown away in the storms and we had no luck. But because it has not been reported nor in its location, it is consider a MISSING art. The location is being revealed incase anyone wants to visit Lamplighter and dig through the sand or guess where the mini art may have blown to.
I do apologize for the injured artwork, as they are waterproof, but seem prone to damage if sitting in puddles of water. The varnish I apply is resistent to most weather, but apparently not the storms that we had. In the future, I will find a way to combat that, and keep the art in better condition.
Good luck finding the final 3(4) artworks.
I will check on the last one and report back to you wether or not it is still in its location.

We brought some friends of ours to look at EdgeBrook Park after we saw today's (WED) clues but we had no luck in the rain but we did have a Dairy Queen treat after our adventure
Joanne posted 6/11/08 5:25 PM
We enjoyed running into Anders and his friend at Carol Hurd Park too!!!!!!!!
Joanne posted 6/11/08 5:27 PM
I spelled that wrong in my last reply - CARROLL HURD Park...
Christopher Family posted 6/12/08 3:48 AM
I know I'm late getting in on the "lost park" conversation, BUT, we finally found it today! It is SUPER cool, and William, I think it's awesome you hid an artwork there. very fun. I agree with Joanne, Anders SHOULD get extra credit for finding that! We want to start a dead poets society there. Thanks for that, William, great spot~!

The only thing i have to say is that congrats to...Joanne Boongaarts, Anders Conroy, Heather and Hoden Christopher, Cammille Slegal, Brandi Frakie and myself for finding the artworks and allso to congrats to all the people who are out there looking for the hidden "treasure". great fun william hope we can do this again next year. oh and judjing by the jamestown buffallo hunt I dont think you are giving winners a big prize. no offence.
Joanne posted 6/12/08 2:22 PM
As I tell the kids - it's the thrill of a chase and adventure of the hunt that makes it a great way to spend your time!
evan, family and karl posted 6/12/08 3:34 PM
yeah! im glad you see it fun
william hessian posted 6/12/08 4:13 PM
im glad you are all enjoying the hunt.
as for the prizes, it is never decided by me. Parktacular comes up with prizes here, and the Jamestown Art Center comes up with prizes in Jamestown.
Since the art hunts do not generate any income, its hard to justify too large of gifts. Although I would prefer bigger prizes myself.
william hessian posted 6/13/08 3:59 PM
it is official. the parkview park artwork is also missing.
no one has claimed the Carroll Hurd artwork yet, and it is the last varified artwork remaining.
no more clues remain.
i want to thank Parktacular and everyone that participated in the hunt. This was by the far the most exciting hunt, partially due to the storms, partially due to the great message board activity.
I also appreciate all the great pictures. They are really excellent.
I am very excited that this is only 1 of 6 art hunts I am creating this summer all across the country.
I hope to meet you all tomorrow at the awards ceremony at Parktacular. Wolfe Park 5pm.

what one is not missing
william hessian posted 6/13/08 4:10 PM
clovers @ carroll hurd park.
anders posted 6/13/08 4:11 PM
did you check today at carol heard for the art work
anders posted 6/13/08 4:14 PM
becuse it was not there yesterday
Joanne posted 6/13/08 5:25 PM
I think all the storms can be blamed for the missing pieces this year! However maybe a big animal has eaten them!
Joanne posted 6/13/08 5:49 PM
Did you check the ground at Carroll Hurd Park?
william hessian posted 6/13/08 6:03 PM
the art was at Carroll Hurd on Monday or Tuesday when i checked the work. It was up in its correct spot.
i am pretty sure it must have been found but not reported by someone. since it hadn't moved in the storms.
i think its official to call the hunt over. unless people want to search the ground for the few missing works.
you are all amazing hunters for braving the intense weather and finding/or trying to find my artwork. It was extra difficult this year.
Good job everyone.
