Is anyone familiar-enough with "Armes Prydein" to answer a couple of questions for me? Hazel

Good, I need a sage today. Glad you know what Armes Prydein is. Saves that much writing. Someone told me that Armes Prydein was in Skene's "The Four Ancient Books of Wales". Based on that, I ordered it. $55!!!!! I find no "Armes Prydein" nor its usual translation, "The Prophecy of Britain". However, I do find "The Omen of Prydein The Great". The translation doesn't quite fit but it might be the same. I am wondering if this is in fact, "Armes Prydein". It starts off with, "The Awen foretells the hastening of The multitude possessed of wealth and peace";". Please, what do you think? Thanks. Hazel

The prophecy of Britain, in The Book
ofTaliesin (c. l275) has the theme
that theWelsh ,mallied to their Celtic
cousins in Çornwall, IReland,
Brittany and the OldNorth
(Strathclyde) also theSandinavians of
Dublin, witll unite to drive the ENglish
from the whole Isle of Briain. The
poem folowed the vicotires of
Athelstan over the British (Celts) at
Brunanburgh in 937. author was
probalby a monk from South Wales
who states that vicotry will come
throuigh the intercession of Dewi (St.
David) and the saints. I don't know
anything about the poem you
mentioned.

Thank you, Peter. The only way I'll know is to find out what the first two or four lines of Armes Prydein say. I might try writing to the National Library of Wales. They were very helpful once before. Hazel
