Hi Jennifer! First, I'd like to thank you for stopping by our site. As for getting your initial 6 shows, decide what you want in life. If you truly want to own and operate your own business then you should be creative with getting your initial shows and make economical investments that you can make in order for the business to be a success. I would suggest you start with the way you approach the potential hostess. Under no circumstance do you want to ask yes/no questions. For example, "Will you have a show for me?" Try, "I've got a great opportunity for you to get $100 in free candles! Are Tuesday or Thursday evenings better for you? Great, Tuesdays are excellent. I'll need for you to get me your guest list immediately." Give the potential hostess two dates to choose from and tell the hostess that you will give them a free gift for choosing one of those dates. Talk up the fact that it is Christmas time and he/she can get great gifts for FREE! By offering the free gift, which can be a discounted or free item from the book or an item such as a candle lighter or relax with wax pack then you are getting the shows booked and held immediately with little out of pocket money. I hope this helps you with getting the shows booked. Once you get the bookings, let us know and we'll be glad to help you with ways to increase your show sales. Keep us posted!

Jennifer, I just wanted to tell you that I am feeling the same way, but I am determined to make this work. These ideas are things that I have heard before & they sound great. It's just trying to get used to saying these things is the trick. I keep forgetting what the right way to ask is. Good Luck to you.

I know exactly how you feel. I've been a consultant since 10/01 and have had only 1 book show which was a combination of 3 shows just to make a $200 show, and my other 3 keep coming up with excuses to postpone. My UL and RL gave me a great suggestion. I'm having a Guest Hostess show. I went through my phone book and invited everyone in it. Then I'm giving tickets to everyone with added ways to earn more during the show, like 2 tickets for each guest you bring. At a specific time I'm having a drawing for whatever the hostess gifts are, with the stipulation that there are certain criteria that has to be met, like it has to be a $200 show, and you have to be present to win. I'll be giving away most of the hostess benefits, but keeping a few just to add to my own inventory. My show is on Jan. 12, wish me luck.

I found it really easy to get my first 6 shows. If you have 6 friends, you have 6 shows.

Hi! I'm also a new consultant who is struggling. I started the end of March and I have done only one real show. Needless to say I didn't qualify my first month. although this month is looking a little better. I have 2 book shows in progress and 2 shows scheduled for later this month. My problem is I have quite a few people who sais they will ahve shows but they can't do it right now. Gow do you get people to commit, and not back out at the last minute. Even my sister backed out in April. :( Any suggestions would be great. I also would like some ideas on games that work well.

As you can see a large percentage of new consultants struggle in the beginning. A large percent do not book 6 shows in 2 weeks and not experience cancellations. However, the difference between those who make it, is preserverse. You are going to have to stretch beyond your comfort zone, meet more people and offer PL to everyone person you meet.
I've been doing this for 9 months and its a joy for me, especially when I connect with the right person, at the right time and I make a difference in their life.

I am also new to PartyLite. This is my first month and I have been scared. I have only had two shows but my kit is paid off and I will make my first pay check (small but it's a start). It is alot of pressure to get those first shows but stick with it and it will come. October I have 4 bookings and two more possiblities. I sit over coffee with friends and just begin to tell them about the monthly hostess specials, then it just flows. Someone always tells the others about what they got for being a hostess and then I watch the reactions of my friends when we chat. I always stress the bonus of getting bookings as a hostess and have my hostess tell her guests when inviting her guests how excitied she is to be having this party. I have found that honesty is the best way to get bookings as well as leaving a few cat's laying aroung my house. Also tealights are cheap to give out to people when meeting them along with a business card. Most people are surprized that I am giving them something for free and once they take the free tealight home and burn it they really see the difference when using quality candles. It's a great product, let it sell itself and just have fun.
