I have a 9 year old boy with CP PVl seizure disorder G-tube & severe brain damage. He goes to A public school and I feel like it is an every day Battle with his teacher. People seem to have this crazy idea that ALL people with CP have only motor problems and no mental problems. Hestevan can shake his head yes or no but is only on about a 1 year old level. so if he is tired or unhappy every thing is a no and if he is happy or likes who is talking every thing is a yes. They are so sure that he is understanding every thing that they talk to him like a 9 year old. I dont feel like that is fair the hestevan or that they provide a good learning atmosphere for him. we are also having a very hard time with him being tired all of the time and we cant figure out why. ( Has any one delt with this) I have told the school if he gets tired, starts drooling having seizures or asperating on his spit to call me so i can pick him up. They have Never called. yet every day when i pick him up he has drool all over his clothes and is coughing on his spit. I have ask them to keep track of his seizures while he is at school and they responded by saying "we dont think that hestevan has seizures" This is the Hell/public school that is my life! Please help! |

I have an 8yr. old daughter. She is on medication for seizures. She doesn't walk or talk. She is wheelchair bound. She also has a g-tube. Lately she has been in an out of the er and hospital since she has been back at school. We think there might be some neglect at the school but we can't prove it. What should I do? |

I understand where everyone is coming from. I am tired of my daughter being mistreated at school. She shouldn't have to pay because I am voicing my opinion for her. My daughter has been in and out of the er and hospital because of them over feeding her. At least that is what I think they are doing.Since school started I have taken her to the er 5x for vomiting. One time she was vomiting blood. She has been at school about one month since being sick all the time. They don't tell me how she does, but they are quick to tell the doctor that she is sick.Abby's doctor went as far as telling them to pump feed her now because he suspects they are over feeding her. The school nurse doesn't think that a single parent can raise a child with special needs. Now I am not single and have another child. She still doesn't think I can raise my daughter since I have a new child. She went as far as telling my daughter that I had replaced her. Isn't that mean. Of course my daughter knows that is not true. My son was born premature because I had gotten into an argument with the school that morning. I almost lost him. I have been threw hell with them. They went as far as calling cps on me for neglect. It was later proven that there was no neglect. They just don't think I am capable of raising my daughter.I have proven them wrong everytime. I am tired of all this fighting to get my daughter the proper care that she deserves. What should I do. |
