Really, my friend, the good fishing is up near flagstaff with the pine trees and trout galore. Lake Ashyrst was great for me and all my buddies. We all caught decent trout. As for boat rentals... Im stationed at luke so i get them there. Then again there's always tempetownlake in Tempe. It was hitting earlier in the summer and alot of anglers have given up out there. There might be a big one for you and your son >> U never know>>

Well i think the answer to you question would be Lake Pleasant. It is not very far away at all. The fishing is not the best in the state but it is by far the closest and there are fish for you and your son to catch. Good luck with the bonding.
