Hi..Thank you for your message..I haven't seen the commercial you refer to so I can't comment on its accuracy or probability etc. However, having handled all types of badgers for many years (eg. young, old, injured etc)I can say that I have never been 'attacked' by one in the sense of the word. I have however been growled and snapped at - which is what I expect a wild animal to do when confronted by a human (which badgers by nature, and experience, fear). Most badgers I have happened to come across in the wild just run off as fast as they can.All the same, I never forget that they are wild animals and if injured or trapped etc, or feel their young are threatened, then they may start snapping at you. As such, the best advice I can give is do not approach or attempt to handle a badger (unless trained and experienced in such work and have good reason to do so).I'll finish by saying that the British (European) badger is somewhat less aggressive than others types. For example, the American Badger is more aggressive and may well attack a person that they feel pose some sort of threat. This is probably because the American Badger is 'wilder' and has more natural enemies to contend with than here in the UK (where they have none really, expect for man and dog).Hope this helps..
