A custom bellhousing had to be made, the torque tube was shortened and a new flange was fabricated and welded to the end of the torque tube to bolt to the bellhousing. The clutch setup is a Buick flywheel and pressure plate, the clutch disc and hydraulic throwout bearing are original Porsche 944.

The front-engined, rear-transmissioned Porsches seem to be made for motor swaps. If you look at any V6-V8 bell housing you'll see it's essentially flat where it mates to a transmission. The opening in the bell housing is exactly concentric with the input shaft to the transmission. It's not difficult to fabricate an adapter from aluminum plate. You've got to bolt a throwout bearing guide (from a transmission that customarily mates to your new engine) to the front of the plate & modify the end of your driveshaft.
