Wow, that sure seems like a lot of work with very little payoff. What was it you were trying to accomplish by not putting in another porsche motor? Sure would have cost less. These days it only costs about $4500 to have a completely rebuilt stock motor put in a 944S. That usually comes with a warranty as well! I hope the performance is a huge increase over the stock motor to compensate for the amount of pain caused by this transplant, but seeing as how the buick motor only has 220 HP, i highly doubt it. Better luck nex time.

Well Jake, unfortunately when the engine quit and I took on this project, it wasn't "these days", it was 5 years ago when a rebuilt head alone was more than you claim an entire engine costs now.
This project was about ALOT more than money anyway... the engine is putting out more than 300HP now, and if I put the same money into performance upgrades that you put into maintaining your timing belt at the same intervals... by 2005, i'll be belting out more like 800HP... was the performance advantage worth it ?? HELL YEA !!

You have to be kidding. Obviously more money than brains!

Dave, I have no problem with people that think converting these cars is sacreligeous or something like that, but your snotty remarks arent appreciated. And in response to your genius theory about me, you've got it exactly backwards.

That is one hell of a story Steve! I do not know much the 944S but the pictures of your car looks awesome. I just recently bought a 928 S4 1989 and man! your story sounds scary because I do not know if I have the same kind of determination you have when you seek to replace your engine. More power to you! I am so glad that the second owner of this car is my brother in law who took care of the car. Well, I am looking forward to the next chapters of your story. Sounds like it was all worth it!
