There are only a few plants of L.sherriffiae in cultivation.Kew have at least one bulb whilst 2 other plants were (& may still be ) in Scotland-one in a private collection at Invergowrie near Dundee(pictured in the Scottish Rock Garden Club journal) & the other held by Ian Christie of Christie's nursery at Kirriemuir. The 2 scottish plants were cross-pollinated a few years ago yielding large amounts of viable seed but I know of no plants resulting.Hopefully the parent plants are still alive.

Thank you Steve, I knew it was as rare as hens teeth, but I didn't know it's history. The one in the Scottish Rock Garden Club Journal got me, in fact I liked all the species liliums pictured. I think, though, it was because they were a lot like Fritillaria's, my main hobby!! I have a few friends that have grown Liliums from seed and is sounds as though they are a lot like Frit's.Thanks again.Kind Regards Lesley Crowden

Leslie,I have had great success with lilies in tissue culture. Thanks mainly to my mentor Judith Freeman(The Lily Garden)If you come up with your lily, I would gladly help you propagate it. Remember, a rare plant isn't rare if you share it!I fear many wonderful varieties have been lost because of ignorance, and selfishness.

Thanks for the offer, unfortunately it doesn't look like I'll be getting any seed for it. It has proved very, VERY, elusive. But I will keep looking and if I ever do get a hold of it I'll remember the offer.
