4-H Enrollment Top Priority
At this time, 4-H enrollment is the top priority in our club. We want to encourage anyone who is interested in joining club to do so as soon as possible. We will strongly enforce the minimum of five meetings rule, so the earlier one enrolls in the club, the sooner they can attend meetings, thus getting their five meetings in. If you know ANYONE who may be interested in joining our club, please bring them with you to a meeting, or have them call us.
Project Books Put on Hold
We have decided to not yet order the yearly project books. We would like to order the books once we know exactly how many members we will have, and since enrollment is still open to all we may have to wait until March or so. To those only taking a lamb project, you won’t really need your project book until you get your lamb, which is usually in April. If anyone taking a still project would like their books as soon as possible to begin working on their project, please contact us and let us know. Most project books are $5.00 each. You must pay for your book before you receive it. We will begin collecting book money at our next meeting on February 18th.
Remember Your 2006 Buyers
Please remember who purchased your 2006 market animal, write it/them down, and bring the list with you to the next meeting. We need these buyers while they are still fresh in your memory. These names will be included on the back of this year’s club T-shirt.
Officer Elections
It was decided at our first meeting that we will elect club officers this year. We will continue to hold our meetings as we have in the past, but will give some of our members a title and a little bit more responsibility within the club. We will elect club officers at our next meeting.
Cloverbuds Have New Advisors
Our club welcomed our new Cloverbud advisors, Kristi Stapleton and Lori Lowe, at our first meeting. We look forward to working with our new advisors and watching our Cloverbuds learn about their projects this year.
Keep Thinking of Ideas
This is a reminder for members and their parents to keep thinking of ideas for our community service project, fund raisers, fun summer activity, booth theme, and beautification project. We’d like to have a variety of ideas for each, as we will later vote on one for each project/event.
Club Meeting Places
It has been decided that this year, our club will have meetings at a different member’s home when possible. By holding meetings at different places, those who have to travel more for one meeting won’t have to travel as far for the next meeting. Once everyone has their lambs at their homes, we will be able to help with your lamb when we have a meeting at your house, and the other members can learn from your lamb as well.
It’s Time to Start Thinking About Lambs
The main topic of our next meeting will be about lamb selection. Believe it or not, it’s just about time to start viewing lambs and possibly purchasing them, even if you are unable to take them home yet. It doesn’t matter how experienced or inexperienced you are in selecting a lamb, it’s always a difficult choice. We hope the next meeting will get you a little more comfortable in making your decision this year.
