I didn't live in Milngavie, but I'm trying to find someone who worked there in the Black Bull Hotel in the late 1950s to early 1960s. William Smith was the manager of the public bar there. He was tall, over 6ft, so would probably have been quite noticeable.I believe he had a brother called Vincent, who sometimes visited the Black Bull for a drink, but I don't know what Vincent did for a living, and I'm told that William was said to have gone "back to work in Ireland" around or before 1963. Anyone remember him or know where he is now? |
