One Woman’s Presidential Perspective
Many have jumped on the “Obama Bandwagon,” but I urge those in this category to reconsider just what is at stake with this election. If Hillary Clinton does not secure the democratic nomination, our generation (ages 30-50) will most likely NEVER see a woman become President. No other female brings true contention forth in order to secure the presidential seat.
Hillary was our ‘invisible leader’ during her husband’s presidency. She was the strong woman behind the successful man. She was the real reason Bill Clinton achieved the many successes he did (He has even admitted this).
During the years of the Clinton presidency, they successfully took a severely crippled economy/deficit and turned it around into a positive working surplus. Our economy was prosperous, stable, secure, and continually progressing forward. Jobs were bountiful. America was the leader among the nations and our future appeared ever hopeful, limitless…UNTIL George W. Bush!
After almost 8 years (present day), we are buried under a trillion dollar war and deficit, inflation is through the roof -Everything is going up, up, &UP, Everything EXCEPT our paychecks. Jobs are practically non-existent due to the influx and promotion of the guest immigrant workers program -Foreigners coming into our country on a temporary basis (temporarily, Ha! What a joke!) To (supposedly) do the jobs we will not, and America’s status in world standings is at its lowest point ever in our history. As Hillary stated, it took a Clinton to clean up after the first Bush, and it will probably take a Clinton to clean up after the second. “Bush 2” inherited a stable and promising country in which to reign over and just look at what has transpired! Not just anyone will be able to tackle the mountain of challenges ‘Bush 2’ will leave behind.
McCain is a great human being, a Real American Hero, But NOT what our country needs at this time. Problems need to be aggressively tackled and solutions found and implemented STAT! The economy is one of the most critical issues and McCain has admitted he has no real concrete knowledge of working economics…so to clarify, one of, if not THE most pressing issue we face, being the economy, the republican candidate, John McCain is going to rely on others to take on this challenge. Sure it is easy enough to assign job duties to others under your command, But should not one know, Firsthand, exactly how something works in order to choose the right person to fix it?
Obama, though I know very little about him, appears too naive and inexperienced to pull our country out of the dark abyss it has fallen. He seems to reside in a ‘fantasy world’, one where if you ‘have a dream’, all you have to do is wish it into reality. He lacks the necessary experience to battle the political bullies to get any real progress accomplished. Obama has great ideas, exudes charisma and charm, has all the ambition and desire in the world, But this will not see his ‘dreams’, his ideals into fruition. You cannot just wish it into action. Obama, like McCain, is not what our country needs. In 8years, vote him into office and let him ‘inherit’ a country that is primed for success. A country that has been healed, nursed back to health, made strong and vibrant once again. A country repaired by President Hillary Clinton. Let that be the country Obama inherits to test the presidential waters.
Imagine for a moment that you are once again a child. Think back and answer this question, “Who was the person you turned to when you were in a time of great need. Who was the one who picked you up, brushed you off, reassured you, cared and tended your wounds and lifted your spirits, gave you the courage to try again? …Who was that person?” My guess would be your mother or perhaps your grandmother, most likely a female figure in your life is the answer. This is what a woman brings to the table. Women possess a kind, patient, loving and wise demeanor. She is set from her birth, to nurture, to heal, to inspire, to resolve conflict and promote peace, harmony and unity. She has a lifetime of experience, perfecting the art of multi-tasking, finding solutions and getting things done. How many can envision a man in the course of 24 hours, juggling a baby on one hip, a child clinging to the other, managing to clean, organize and maintain an orderly home environment, go from daycare to job, then soccer practice and the school play, have dinner on the table at 6, the kids bathed, read to, and tucked in by 8, spend quality time with the significant other, then tidying the house once more and preparing for yet another day that brings much of the same. Not to imply that men cannot handle this type of routine, MOST men (probably) can, BUT they do not choose to do so. Whereas, in women, the role of nurturing problem solver and pro multi-tasker, is instinctual, hard wired into her DNA.
I hope you can see and respect the arguments I have made. Being a mother myself, I realize the significance of electing Hillary Clinton as our next President. The historical attributes her presidency would bring are phenomenal. What other female stands a chance to attain this great honor, this seat of prestige and power? What woman in 10 years can you envision accomplishing this? I can think of not one. I want to KNOW, not just believe, But KNOW, Anything is possible, that a female Can TRULY do Anything, BE Anything she wants. To know when saying to a daughter, “Yes, you could be president one day sweetheart!” It is not filling her head with a ‘pipe dream’. In order for this to happen, Hillary has to be the one, the role model to restore hope, integrity and dignity to all, to secure a woman’s position in the world, making known Anything IS truly possible for women.
Who will I vote for? Hillary Clinton! As If you couldn’t tell.

Ok, I'm going to throw in my two cents as I read this in another window. "If Hillary Clinton does not secure the democratic nomination, our generation (ages 30-50) will most likely NEVER see a woman become President." This statement kind of ruins it for the rest of the reading. It makes it look like your sole purpose is to elect a woman President. Are you saying Hillary is the last possible woman to deserve the White House? It looks like it. "Hillary was our ‘invisible leader’ during her husband’s presidency". Every first lady is that and I wouldn't vote for Nancy Reagan. "During the years of the Clinton presidency, they successfully took a severely crippled economy/deficit and turned it around into a positive working surplus. Our economy was prosperous, stable, secure, and continually progressing forward." This economy realistically crashed in 2001 because of the false wealth we created in the Clinton years. I think Bush #2 inherited Clinton's bubble economy and it burst on him. I can also blame Hillary for that since she was his brain. Nothing in the Clinton economic boom was real, it fell like a deck of cards it 2001. Bush didn't take that house of cards down, a gust of wind did. "Imagine for a moment that you are once again a child." Maybe you should say "once again a child that wasn't aborted". I can't read anymore because this is nothing more than words from someone who wants a female President, at any cost. You lost me in the first 2 paragraphs. The "Clintons" never had to deal with the things that Bush #2 did and I don't have much confidence that we would be better off if they had.
Delilah posted 3/8/08 10:34 PM
I beg to differ, but to each is their own opinion. I respect your views as I had hoped you respected mine. It appears you need to do more research when it comes to the Clinton presidency. As for only wanting a woman as president, of course I want to see a woman as President and yes I do feel she is and will be for quite a while the only woman Qualified to become president, that is unless you are on the 'Ophra' bandwagon. In my honest opinion and review of all 3 candidates, Hillary is the only candidate I see that has the potential to turn this country around. McCain can't and won't do it, and Obama is too naive and dumb to know better than to try.
Thanks for the reply. I'll respect your opinion but value mine more. For true, lasting, and positive change, it's going to take a woman to do the job and I feel that woman is Hillary Clinton...simply because I am too busy!
Regards,
D

I do respect your views but it just comes across to me as a "get a woman in at any cost" from the get--go. I'll take more time and read it again because I can't right now...I now there are major economic problems right now but I I'm not sure how a Clinton can fix it. Gotta run. I wasn't trying to be a jerk or anything....was just writing what first came to my mind as I read.
Berry posted 3/9/08 0:09 AM
I will not cast my vote for none of them! They all are losers. We would be better off picking a bum off the street to run for office! And let it be known Bush did nothing on his part to make anything better He might have wanted to but the Black gold was on his mind. As bad as i hate to say it ol Bill did some good things while in office I did cross over to vote dem the second time he was in there but not this time no one gets my vote.
Delilah posted 3/9/08 0:39 AM
Again, thanx for the input. May I ask...who do you support Clyde? Out of the three potential candidates, who do you feel is the most qualified to fix our ailing nation? In all honesty, I feel McCain lacks the knowledge and know how to do our economy any good what so ever, he is too hung up on gung ho military tactics. He'll be sitting in the oval office playing with his 1930's G.I. Joe's. And Obama will be too busy being 'Mr. Hollywood', so that leaves Hillary. Although I would LOVE to see a woman elected as President during my lifetime, I do feel she is the only half decent option we have with our choices. And during hubby Bill's term, the nation was stable and prosperous. Whether it be the 'economic bubble' he created (as you spoke about), at least he made a valiant effort to do this country some good. I can't see how anyone could defend Bush#2 considering what all he has caused this country to endure. It will take 8 years or longer to correct all the wrongs he has done. As it is now, the dollar is lower than the Chinese renminbi, the euro, Swiss franc, basically any other currency is valued higher than that of the U.S. dollar. Bush has sold America out, China might as well own us with the debt we are in to them, along with other countries. So, regardless of my desire to have a woman President, she is the only viable solution at this time. Unfortunately, It looks as if Obama will overpower her effort with his suave manner and boyish charm. I, however, will not fall prey to the illusions he presents to the public people. It will be an 'Obamanation' to the good people of the U.S.A. and God himself if Barack Hussein Obama becomes the next President! I pray nightly that this country is spared any further hardships and that Hillary becomes our next President. With the other 2 options I fear things will only get worse...if that is even possible. As it is now, I can't see how the 'average joe' even makes it, how he can even put food on the table for his family or make it to the job everyday. So in hopes that things get better..."U GO GIRL! Hillary 4 President!!!"
Regards,
D

Delilah, I agree with you 100%. I thought I was the only one on this forum that supported Hillary! I'm konked out lately on political debates so I'm just coasting here and letting you do all the work! Berry, it's not as bad as you make it out to be. Many are forced to acknowledge a "new world" with this election. America has to wake up and realize that a good president can be a man, woman, a black man, a white woman and who knows? Maybe one day we'll have a gay president! Good ideas and leadership go beyond race and gender. I stated earlier that we needed a dose of estrogen with a bit of sarcasm and there's something to it. GWB's popularity continues to drop to an all time low. I hope we can recover from this administration and I think we will (we HAVE to, there's no choice here!). Last week, I thought Hillary's chance was gone but now she's back and she's getting my vote too. The good news about ALL of this is, we will have a much better administration in 2008, no matter WHAT happens! King "Mad" George's Romper Room is OVER, send him to The Tower!!!!!!!!!

We are a fallen nation anyhow, Might as well go out in a bang! The only way to fix what is wrong with the mess were in is to Revolt! Stand up for ourselves lmao The downside to that is we are to weak and powerless We are a beat down country and have no "WILL" When is the last time a white person has stood up for what they believe in? Any of you want to say me 1st? Yeah thought so. You and i are the same, we do not tend to care about anything All hope is dead! Have to give it to the black man for standing for each other, When is the last time a white person ever came together such as Jena? I do not think any of us can remember a time! Oh and do not give me your crap about what Katrina did for the people. It all was a front for religion base organizations to make a few bucks and get the word, oh we are Christians and we care! Yeah right! They cause us more harm by coming here and acting as if they cared! When all in all their pockets was getting fat! Funny how USA, Mexico, and Canada will be down in La signing a bill that will make us all one country don’t believe me, goggle it for yourself. My friends we have "SOLD OUT" And God himself has turned his back on us, And i can't say i don't blame him! We are spoiled, fat, and lazy people that is getting back what we deserve after all it is us that has laid down and given up hope. We care more about the lamest things i have ever saw in my life and don't care about the greater things in life. What happen to the times when a kid would do something wrong in his neighborhood and not only did that kid get a spanking from pops but old man Fred from across the road would tear that but up too? Yeah, now lets see old man Fred even think about trying to better that same kid now days. He would be slapped with charges so fast his old @ss would have a heart attack and die and it would be his own dang fault for trying to make right what is wrong, When is the last time so and so came over to give you a hand, and not expected something in return? I tell you the world is out of control and we are to blame! We have to get back what we lost along the way, our self-wroth! Moreover, take a stand for something other then the silly crap that we tend to harp on. Our kids are out of control each and everyday you hear about someone being shot or kill for what? Why? We have failed our nation, our kids, somewhere and ourselves; somehow, we lost our will to fight!
We became followers of the new world order! Doing what others are doing to be like the Jones, And to just fit in all the while, leaving our children a failed economy. In addition, while I am at it, who cares about the gays and what they do. Are they not like us? Do they not feel pain, hurt, just as you and I? Do you think they do they have hopes and dream and want to fit in as we do, Again silly crap! When, there is more pressing issues at hand. It is bout time we pull the rose color glasses off and look around cause we are blind to the fact. We are ‘fed lies from the tablecloth.’ Moreover, cannot get enough of it. Friends we have sold out and do not even care enough to make a stand. I ask you why, for what? See the video let's make a real change! Lets all get alone! What good can comes from 'Hate?'

J.Dean, I'm reading your post with a grain of salt. I can't take it TOO seriously since I don't think your are, either. I don't agree that we are a "fallen nation", not by a long shot. Yes there are major over-hauls needed in the economy, border-control,etc.,but
"a fallen nation"? That seems a bit extreme. Hopefully with this election, we will stand up for ourselves and give breath and life to a new administration that knows what they're doing. "White people standing up for what they believe in? Come on, that's how this country was originally founded and has been run since 1776!! I don't think you want to affiliate yourself with White Supremicists do you?? Katrina did NOTHING for the people but destroy many innocent lives and at the same time, exacerbate poorly run state governments and an insane Federal gov't; "Brownie, you're doing one heck of a job!!!" I have NO idea what you're talking about with "Mexico, USA and Canada signing a bill to make one country. I won't even waste my time Googling. It's not happening J. Dean, I promise! Without going into religion, God is not "turning his back on us", that is not happening either, I promise! If anything, we are turning our backs on ourselves and others. Yes we have many fat, lazy people here and that's a truth. Parents are feeding themselves and their kids with junk food and sitting in front of the TV, staring into space or playing video games. When I was kid, we ran outside and played until we dropped, had dinner (didn't get dessert unless we ate all the good stuff) then went back OUTSIDE and played again!! I did this in cold, snowy weather too. Fortunately we still are familiar with "progress" and understand that just because you're an adult, you can't dicipline the kid down the street with a slap or hit. Parents need to control their kids (not happening often enough). We haven't lost "our will to fight", it's just the OPPOSITE!! We have lost the will to make peace, take responsibility and find solutions. All we WANT to do is fight!! I do agree with you somewhat on the "new world order", our gov't and the media want to control us with fear tactics and we can't be so dumb to fall for it all, I know I don't. I can't quite wrap my head around your gay comment. It seems that you're on both sides of a fence with that one. I also agree with you that there's is WAY too much apathy and people have lost perspective on what's important. "Keeping up with The Jones's" is a slippery slope since all The Jones' are filing Chapter 13's and losing their homes!! "Let's get alone" I think must be a Freudian slip..."let's all get along" makes more sense and yes, I agree.

Yeah i heard something on this that the 3 Amigos was going to meet in private and at some point there was talk that they was going to do some kind of shady deal to bring all three country togeather as one. Oh get this, There was a guy that said his brother in law works at the Pentagon and the reason for letting all the illegal immigrants in to America was to try and get them to join the war blah blah blah thats about all i heard is that what you are speaking of who knows maybe it could be true One never knows but I don't think i can buy into it.
Since we on the voting mess Ron Paul is a great man and i think he could do alot for us. But no one votes for the good candidates, so they get eliminated before they have a chance.
I'd rather see hillary as president, I think there is something strange with obama's face

I'm pretty much over the political debate too but what I believe is...a President is incapable of fixing anything permanently. It starts with the family and works it's way up. Delilah, I can't get past this statement, "If Hillary Clinton does not secure the democratic nomination, our generation (ages 30-50) will most likely NEVER see a woman become President." I have a hard time taking anything you say after it seriously. Goat can give you all the high-five's you can stomach but I just can't get past that. Can you explain this statement? Common sense isnt going to save the economy...Hillary comes off to me as more sympathetic, understanding, warm, and is listening...Hillary has, as she has said, taken this incoming fire for 15 years or more...She’s had her patriotism questioned, her sexuality questioned, been accused of being a murderer, been accused of much more and yet she’s still the leading candidate for the Democratic nomination...She’s tougher than boot leather while having a human side...Those are assets that our candidate needs...Hillary has developed thick skin, and the ability to remain calm in campaign combat...Yet, she also knows how to listen to the American people...Hell of a lot more exp in politics, world affairs, while Obama really just reminds me of the movie "mandarian canidate"...While she was first lady she traveled a great deal meeting foreign leaders, in fact she traveled to over 80 countries, she already has established connections, and the support of them as well...Even the health care system backs her up...Has anyone thought about who Obama wants to select for positions like judgeship for the supreme court or any other positions? He wants a conservative serving on the supreme court, lol wth? Obama as senator is so out of touch which his citizens within his own state, what is there to expect as a president? I don't feel like he is truly ready to take on a position like the presidency yet...His resume dosn't impress me one bit...Its one thing to talk the talk, and another to actually do it...Seems crazy or not, she at least gets the job done...
Ron Paul as vice president lol I like Ron Paul He makes the most sense of all. But Billary has showed me she can take a punch and get back up, That's one thing about her. And like Clyde said It starts with the family! And a president can only do what the house let's them do. Jdean did you cut your wrist or something? where are you? I still want to know what you are talking about.

Yeah, Hillary is T O U G H and she don't take no mess!! She'll stand by her man but she won't take no mess. Proud American posted 3/11/08 7:15 AM
Ok since you seem to have math challenges. Here is the simple statement for you. 8 years is much greater than 2! Here is more detail for you.
In 2000, Hillary was elected to the United States Senate from New York. As Senator, Hillary has continued her advocacy for children and families and has been a national leader on homeland security and national security issues.
After the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, Hillary worked with her colleagues to secure the funds New York needed to recover and rebuild. She fought to provide compensation to the families of the victims, grants for hard-hit small businesses, and health care for front line workers at Ground Zero. And she continues to work for resources that enable New York to grow, to improve homeland security for New York and other communities, and to protect all Americans from future attacks.
She is the first New Yorker ever to serve on the Senate Armed Services Committee, working to see that America's military has the necessary resources to protect our national security. She has visited troops in Iraq and Afghanistan and at Fort Drum in New York, home of the 10th Mountain Division and other New York bases, as well as at Walter Reed Military Hospital. She has learned first-hand the challenges facing American combat forces. Hillary passed legislation to track the health status of our troops so that conditions like Gulf War Syndrome would no longer be misdiagnosed. She is an original sponsor of legislation that expanded health benefits to members of the National Guard and Reserves and has been a strong critic of the Administration's handling of Iraq.
But Hillary has recognized that we can't ignore our problems at home while we face challenges overseas. She has introduced legislation to tie Congressional salary increases to an increase in the minimum wage, because she believes if America's working people don't deserve a raise, neither does Congress. She has supported a variety of middle-class tax cuts, including marriage penalty relief, property tax relief, and reduction in the Alternative Minimum Tax, and supports fiscally responsible pay-as-you-go budget rules. She helped pass legislation that encouraged investment to create jobs in struggling communities through the Renewal Communities program. She has championed legislation to bring broadband Internet access, which is so important in today's information economy, to rural America.
In the Senate, Hillary has not wavered in her work to expand quality affordable health care to more Americans. She worked to strengthen the Children's Health Insurance Program, which increased coverage for children in low income and working families. She authored legislation that has been enacted to improve quality and lower the cost of prescription drugs and to protect our food supply from bioterrorism. She sponsored legislation to increase America's commitment to fighting the global HIV/AIDS crisis, and is now leading the fight for expanded use of information technology in the health care system to decrease administrative costs, lower premiums, and reduce medical errors. That is only a small snipet of her experience.

This election is so important and as a NYorker, I can tell you that she has been fantastic as a Jr. Senator, she will get this country turned around and back on track. I would end this statement with "I promise" but I've learned that politicians make promises they don't keep so I'm taking a cue.

Okay, here are some of the many problems I have with Clinton.
1) Ending the War In Iraq. A great deal of her campaign is based on this and well, it wouldn't be if she didn't vote, as a Senator, to attack Iraq in the first place. Yes, I said it.
2) Healthcare. I have a hard time trusting her since most of her campaigning donations come from pharmaceutical companies. She'll just back off healthcare reform like she did in the 90s when she receives her next big, fat paycheck.
3) Vote for me because I'm a woman. Sure, and I'll vote for my cat because she's a cat while I'm at it.
