If you've ever wanted to learn how to paint happy trees like that lovable big-haired guy on PBS, here's your chance. I will be teaching the Bob Ross wet-on-wet technique at the Pascagoula Art Depot beginning Saturday, May 3rd. It is a four hour workshop that will allow you to complete a beautiful oil painting, have a cup of coffee (or two), meet some new friends, and more. The best part about it is that all supplies are included in the fee, so all you have to do is register with the Pascagoula Recreation Center and show up ready to paint! Class size is limited. Minimum age 16. It's gonna be a lot of fun...hope to see you there!

If you want a copy of the flyer, email me at ugottafriend4life@gmail.com and I can send it to you via Microsoft Word attachment. To register, call Pascagoula Recreation Center at 228-938-2356. Thanks! ~Kelli

Will there be any BLACK PAINT?? How about some RED DOORS??
I see a red door and I want it painted black
No colors anymore I want them to turn black
I see the bugs go by dressed in their summer clothes
I have to turn my head until my darkness goes..
I paint and color as I watch the TV screen
I have a drink of ale until I fall asleep
I'm so hungover in the morning as I lie awake
If I join your art class will I get a piece of cake?

I want to learn to do this Kelli, have you seen this technique before?

Nice poem there Harry. Your youtube link froze my computer, though. I had to reboot, but what I did see was pretty cool. Unfortunately not the method that I teach, however...sorry to burst your little beetle bubble. :)
Btw, no cake will be served as far as I know, but there will be cookies! And cookies are almost like cake. Well...not really, but hey, it's something to munch on while painting happy little trees.

Really??? You're PC FROZE?? Like a block of ICE?? Well I think you need a little PC check-up see, 'cause no youtube video should freeze your PC. You know what freezes my PC around these parts?? I'll go to read your local paper and I'll get a JAVA update alert and all the sudden, BAM! FREEZE! Won't MOVE! Can't get it OFF! Kinda like a BEDBUG or a bad TV SHOW! You might want to look into NBN as your server 'cause they do no wrong. So you got cookies at your paint-job pow-wow? What kind?? If it's Nabisco brand, I'm allergic see, so I'll sneeze up a storm and you'll have a whole other "wet on wet" technique to contend with! It'll be MESSY! I like homemade oatmeal, supper crunchy. My cookies gotta have the "crunch" factor and I HATE CHEWEY!! Those do me in, everyTIME! I like me some of those Cowboy cookies...they have everything in 'em 'cept the kitchen SINK! OK, Kell, WHATEVER you do, don't WATCH THIS!! OK? Talk about freeze!!! ooooooh- WEE, this will crash your PC so I'm warning ya....!

I just might have to ban beetles with allergies from the classroom. Only one wet-on-wet technique is allowed, and that's Bob's! ROFL

The ads have gone out and the first class is scheduled for May 3. I haven't seen any of the newspaper or TV news ads, since I don't have access to those here in AL. Ya'll let me know if you run across anything! Thanks and hope to see ya next Saturday! ~Kelli

Hey Kelli, I have painted this method for years. I was taught by a student of
Alexander. He was the man that created this method. Bob Ross was also taught by Alexander. This is an awesome way to learn to oil paint. There is no waiting for weeks for the first layer to dry, then the next and so on. I painted my first painting in Tucson and had to get it home without smudging it. That was a long 1500 miles.
It has been a while since I painted anything. I sure would love to learn any new technics. However, that would be hard to do since I live in Texas now.
Good luck with your classes. I am so proud of you for taking the time to teach art classes. It is the most relaxing hobby anyone could have. If I lived there you could be sure I'd be there.
GOD BLESS..

WOW WEE, great to hear from you! I talk about Bob learning from Bill Alexander when I go over Bob's history in class. I hate that they are both gone, but they have left a great legacy behind. It is amazing how much joy a person can feel just by putting paint on a canvas. The classes are going great...wish you could be there!

Was out of order for a month due to a kidney obstruction, but I'm back in gear and the Joy of Painting will resume July 5th. Hope everyone has a nice holiday!
