Attended the afternoon show. A lot of diplomatic dependents saw the show. Beatles came on stage carrying their new burst Epiphone Casinos which they just bought from Hesse music store in Liverpool. George used the model with Bigsby vibrato while John used a non-vibrato Casino. Epiphones were still made in the US back then. Paul kept on asking if the people in the back could hear them. Started with Rock and Roll Music. Hair of the Beatles would not swirl when they shook their heads from side to side because of perspiration, their mop top just stuck to their foreheads. Pin striped jackets(same as the ones used by the Fab Four in Japan). Paul played his 1962-model Hofner bass and Ringo had his Ludwig(oyster pattern)drum set with the familiar Beatles bass drum logo. A whole line of straight Vox amps. The security did not allow tape recorders. |

I'm a devoted Beatle Fan and it's really hard for me to post a comments on how I feel about The Beatles 1966 Manila concert. First I was not yet born at that time, I'm only 24 years old right now but based of my intense research and as well as the influence of The Beatles, I also felt like I'm in the big picture that most fans who watched the concert. One time I had a big conversation in our Humanities class way back in college, and we talk about music. Pero I got over the debate and defend myself..... Anyway still, wala pa ring makaka-daig sa legacy na ibinigay sa atin ng The Beatles.... And I'm really proud to say that ACROSS THE UNIVERSE.... |

I was there! Saw the Beatles on the 8 P.M. show. I witnessed this "once in a lifetime" event. Quite an experience that I'll always cherish and remember. Nothing compares hearing the Beatles...live...in person. |

Ahh.. The Beatles... the greatest band in the whole universe. Within my six degrees of separation, I was shocked to learn from my Uncle who now lives in New York that Ramon Ramos, the organizer and promoter of the Beatles concert in the Philippines was the cousin of my grandfather. My uncle said that he was at the Rizal Memorial Coliseum trying to get a ticket when he saw a cousin manning one of the turnstile. So his cousin let him in for free and he was taken right in front of the stage taking all of Paul and John's spit and yeah, yeah, yeah! :) I was ten years old back then in the Philipines but I remember all the excitement and hoopla and the day the Beatles were shamelessly kicked out of the country (forgive them Paul, for they do not know what they were doing) Here in New York, I've met other Beatle connections through book signings. They are Pete Best--nice and humble guy, Cynthia Lennon--hmmm, and May Fang--vey friendly and accomodating. I was surprise to see May Fang as I was leaving Cynthia's book signing (she kind of gate crashed that event ans was happy to sign Cynthia's book) The Beatles changed the world and there will be no other band like them. And the fun of it is you can just play their music and re-lived those happy times. |

Yes that big event, was also too small for that event but remenbered a little bit of the commotion it created that time. The only thing is that everytime this topic comes out in my dicussions with my haole (American) friends, the bad ending always comes out. Referring to that mauling incident the fab four had in that scary moments they had during their departure at the airport. It was only in the 80's that one of the fab boys (Bhakta George Harrision) did acknowledge, that it was not the filipino people that gave them that rough farewell but from some goons and relatives of the governing Philippine politicians at that time. At least some redemption from the guys (and for us pinoys) after many years, but then it had always marred that unforgetable event to this date. http://www.angelfire.com/band2/freebird/FreebirdHarvestHistory.html |

Yea Goff, Even at 8 years old, I remember you guys heading out the door from uncle Benny's house so desperately wanting to go with you to see the Beatles and mom ignoring my pleas… She had forgotten what is was like to be a fan… You, Ric, and Jeff were very fortunate indeed! |

The Beatles has undeniably made history. I dont know if we still need to do this or is it still relevant. Could we make an official apology to the band just like the government of Israel did a year ago? Could someone initiate it please? Pzaldua Cardiff,UK |

We were seated on the upper right side of the stage & we didn't see Ringo during the concert. 2 songs I remembered that they played are: 'If I Needed Someone' & 'Paperback Writer'. |
