In my eyes the class66 is the best loco this country has had for a long time, i dont know why people speech bad of them becouse they look good and suites the railways good.

I agree that the class 66 are a good loco.EWS got what they specified.They did not order 250 class 59's but something with a little more speed at the expense of the haulage capability.That is why the class 60 can haul heavier loads but is not near as reliable.Back in the days of BR when a loco failed it could sit for a long time before it was repaired as there were lots of other traction units to use.Todays locos do a lot more than their predecessors and sitting around time is a lot less than in years gone by.Some older traction mibht have had long lives but how much of it was spend actually working.If the 66 was a bad loco todays private operaters would not have bought it in the numbers they have.Non of them decided to buy class 60 diesels.There is no sentiment in business.

Could anybody tell me what class 66 would be known as in the country where they are built ? I am in a verbal battle with a friend, as to weither the bogies are a complet casting or compoments welded together. Can you help me ?
