I have a Enfield No4MkI that is South African Marked. The Buttplate of the rifle is also marked SAN27. Am I to understand that this is a South Africian Navy mark? Can I obtain any more information regarding this rifle? OR does the 27 simply indicate a rack number |

SAN27 would most likely be South African Navy, Rack Number 27. (See: http://www.saaaca.org.za/links/markings.htm). Its unlikley that we would be able to find specific info. for a single Rifle, but why not try the Navy and/or the South African National Museum of Mil. History, thru your nearest South African Consulate ? |
