Does anyone know about a cache of Jameson Raid guns, confiscated by the SA police in 1896, being discovered in a SA police station filing cabinet in 1974 or thereabouts? I want a newspaper report from 1974 or other hard evidence, because I have a Colt Single Action that is said to have been in that cache. If I had some details of the find (place, date) I could check the serial number against police reports at the time to prove provenance. All information gratefully received.Hart Smeeks

I don't know the answer to that question, but the 577-450 Maxim gun he had is now in the Pattern Room at Leeds.

Well, that's interesting about the .577/450 Maxim at Leeds. How do they know it was one of Jameson's? Do the confiscation records exist somewhere? And while we're on the subject, anyone know where I can buy one of these .577/450 Maxim's? It would really fill out my collection ! !Hart Smeeks
