Author Topic:   " Liverani " Only Eritrean professional footballer

Ever heard of Liverani? Well hes the only professional player that has any links with Eritrea. His mother is Eritrean, father is Italian. He is a attacking central midfielder who can score and plays for Lazio in Italys top league. Unfortunatly and understandably he chose to play for Italy and went on to be the first black player to represent Italy. I say understandably as i think he wants to play in the world cup and at the moment Italy are his best chance of that. Hopefully future Eritrea stars will chose Eritrea.

I know about the ialian league well enough, especially the bigger teams like Lazio and so on.
`
I never actually thought or even tried to understand this players background.
`
MAKES YOU THINK THAT ITS STILL POSSIBLE TO MAKE IT, AS A PRO-
`
You know sometimes players chose thier nationality in football for their own success in their careers which they can look back at.

I read an article in FourFourTwo, a football magazine in England, about him and it said he has an Eritrean mother, but i just checked the internet and read an article that says he has a Somailian mother. He is definitely from the Horn of Africa, I'm sure we can agree on that. He is only as good as he is because he had good faciltys in Italy when he was a young developing footballer. Something which many talented young players in Eritrea don't have. Also War or the threat of War makes scouts from europe very reluctant to come to Eritrea. If an Eritrean player does become a professional player he will most probably come from dispora communities.

Hello guys!
I am new to this medium! I have been checking it out for a while now. I am an Eritrean who played college soccer in the U.S and I know a lot about the game all over the world. As a journalist I do a lot of research.
Just thought I would let you know there is an Eritrean Star player in Austria by the name of Yohannes Woldemariam,he plays for Salzburg F.C and is one of the top players in all of Auatria. Go to Salsburg's web site and see his background...
Nice to join you guys and I will keep in touch from time to time.

HI,i think the problem of Eritrean soccer is the Europeans clubs(Arsenal,AC Milan,Real Madrid...)they only want players of Worldcup but they must to know Eritrea's players are famous look at Shimangus the player of Red Sea and many others. And Eritreans players want a good coach ,i'm on Switzerland and i know many persons they are coach on 2d or 3rd division.Me i'm 15 years old and i play on a 2d division club (CS Chenoīs) and i'm a good player but i'm too young to go in Eritrea's team.
