I am searching for any links to my gggg grandfather's daughter, Betsy SMEATHERS that marr John BERRY c1809-1811 Ohio Co Ky. They had 3 sons-John Bate Berry b 1813 Ky; Andrew Jackson Berry b 1816 In; Joseph Berry b 1818 In. Betsy apparently died shortly after Joseph's birth..as on record in Monroe Co In John Berry married Gracie Treat July 1819. Gracie went with John and his 3 sons to Tx c1826 arriving in Liberty to wait for their Robertson Colony land grant. Meanwhile Gracie died 1830 aft they had 3 daughters-Eliz, Hannah & Margaret. John Berry then marr Hannah Devore 1831 and they had 12 children. John Berry d 1866 Williamson Co Tx buried in a cemetery where he lived near Berry Creek called the Gann Mill property. His burhlstone fr his mill is on a marker in Georgetown, Tx. Of Betsy and John's 3 sons, only Andrew Jackson had children and he married twice-lst to Rhoda Jane Hughes, had 9 children; 2nd to Mary Cathrine Sloan-had 8 children. I am aware of the material in the Andrew Jackson 'Jack' Pope book which there are some errors so I am trying to find some desc of this Andrew Jackson Berry line that might have some other information on Betsy. We can not prove when she was born, when she married or when or where she really died. Most is just guess work based on census, marr cert and data in Ky/In/Tx on John Berry. I am also aware there is big debate on who John Berry's parents are... I would discuss that at some point in time if anyone wanted too. I am related to Betsy as follows: John Berry- Andrew Jackson (Captain Jack) Berry-Andrew Jackson (Bud) Berry, Jr., Edith Berry Parker, Milam Parker- Wayne Parker. I have a book in addition to the Berry Book you mention. It is The John Berry Family of Berry's Creek TEXAS PIONEERS Williamson County, Texas. I am related to Enoch Berry through his daughter, Parrizade. Enoch was a brother to John--just found this info today. The father was William b. ca 1750, King George Va. Revolutionary Soldiers, Spencer Co.IN. Source is page 16,17, Roster of Soldiers and Patriots of the American Revolution Buried in Indiana, 1966. It lists the children and the spouses. When Enoch and Christina Dick marr. in KY., it listed William as his father. |
