The Walter Reed Army Medical Center website has advised that all packsges and letters addressed to "Any Service Member","Any Wounded Service Member" or "Any Wounded Soldier" will not be delivered by the U.S. Postal Service. This is to ensure the safety of patients and medical staff. This is per a directive issued by the Deputy Undersecretary of Defense. Walter Reed Army Medical Center,Bethesda Naval Medical Center and all other military medical centers are included. Only mail addressed to a specific patient will be delivered. Unfortunately, there are individuals that wish to inflict more pain and suffering upon these brave men and women and their families. There are other venues to show your support and gratitude that are listed. Pete

Larry, There is now a viable solution to your original request. There is a partnership between the American Red Cross and Pitney Bowes Mailing Solutions that provides a safe venue to support our wounded veterans. Mail cards to: We Support You During Recovery. C/O American Red Cross P.O. Box 419 Savage, MD 20763-0419 The cards will be inspected for content by the Red Cross and remailed by Pitney Bowes to military medical facilities. This option is good from now until 12/27/07. I will forward the complete release to Bob Elmore for posting. Pete

Fred; The information was provided to me by Conrad "Cas" Castro. Cas served in Vietnam as a member of the 84th EBC and the 172nd EBC and has been engaged in consulting with the Army Medical Command for several years. Cas is a reliable source and the information is valid. All credits belong to him. Pete
