Hi. I'm the CEO of this museum. I'm looking forward to this message board as a way for visitors and others to communicate their interests to the Museum and to each other. Looking forward to the conversation! http://boalmuseum.com |

Nice to have an email from Portugal! There is a town in Asturias, Spain, called Boal which may be the origin of the Boal family name. |

I'm from Nelson, New Zealand and we just typed my name into the search engine "Google" and this popped up. I was amazed that there was a town and a museum with my name in it. Wow. I'm still shocked!!!! |

Born 1 July 1938 - Part of Flint Wales - still alive! Father "John Hill Boal" (1904-1995) Co. Antrim N.I. Been to "Boal" in Asturia in 1990s, know about the wrecking of the Armada in Ireland, but maybe we are all just corrupt "Boyle"s. Who KNOWs? |

Steve-- Why don't you post your genealogy as far back as you know it on the museum genealogy database and we'll see if there are some connections? The Boals of Boalsburg were Ulster Irish, so there is probably some connection with your family in Scotland, way back. Delighted to hear from you! --Chris Lee office@boalmuseum.com http://boalmuseum.com Boal Mansion Museum |

Hi, Never knew there were so many Boals about never mind a museum, Heard so many theories on the Boal origins from a Viking named Boal landing in Ireland to rape and pillage to a shoe maker from Boal in spain who arrived in the UK somewhere and all he could say was Boal (the town he came from) and so the name Boal was given to him! But as yet never quite believed any! what i have found though is there are quite a few Boals in graveyards in Ireland!!! |

Enjoyed your message. Where do you live? And where did you hear the many stories about the origins of the Boal name? http://boalmuseum.com Boal Mansion Museum |

Hi chris, In fact i only live about 30 miles from the other Steven Boal on this forum! lol. I live in West Lothian in Scotland. As for the stories, some have come from older Boals as in grandfather and great grandfather when i was young, and others from other Boals i have managed to speak to over the years. One being a good friend called Douglas Boal whom i met through his nephew would you believe another Steven Boal. (we are popular) Any way keep up the good work and hopefully i'll have a son to keep my family name alive, (and to annoy his big sister!) lol. email stevenboal@msn.com |

Hello from Cleveland, Ohio. My friend is related to Elizabeth Boal who was from Sharon, Pennsylvania originally. She just passed away recently in Cleveland and was in her nineties. |

I'm not a Boal, but I'm a travel junkie and a US Military Veteran from Pennsylvania. I'm planning a series of road trips through out the summer and stumbled onto Boalsburg somehow. I was immediately impressed with the history. I am posting in this thread because I am further impressed with the lengths this little town and museum have reached. How amazing you all found the town, museum and each other through this site. I'm going to have to plan a trip to Europe to make my Boalsburg/Boal trip complete!
