With the passing of ex-world champion, Bobby Fischer, an era has come to a final end. Those, like myself, who began their chess careers during the Fischer years, always felt short-changed by his sudden withdrawal from chess after reaching the pinnacle. Hopes of chess promotion throughout the US by Fischer fell far short of our imagined ideas. Still, there was a boom from his notoriety, but the real and permanent effect was lost due to his actions or non-actions. We'll never see another book of his games with his annotations or columns penned exclusively by him. Hopefully, one result of his death will be the free-voice now given to his closest confidants where tidbits of unknown Fischer facts will be disclosed. Another publicity bump might be his funeral, i.e., who shows up, etc. Bobby, rest if peace. It was an interesting ride.

Bobby, rest in peace. I was not trying to make it conditional, just a typo.
