Topic: CCC experiencing increased attendance

Thanks to all who are participating in our Wednesday night meetings recently. We are seeing increased attendance (in line with my own theory about long winter nights inducing more chess play). Just last night, while playing my rated match game against Stephen Welt, I counted thirteen in the room. Some more showed up later and there seem to be a good mix of different games to satisfy all. If you are interested in participating in rated match play, let me know and I'll find you an opponent. This is a good way to hone your tournament skills and keep your chess mind up to speed. Don't forget that your local tournament, the Snowstorm Special is just over two weeks away and if you plan to play, the club meetings are a good way to tune up. Also, I'll be taking pre-entries on the the Wednesday night meeting on Feb. 6 and you can get the pre-entry rate of $60 if you attend.

As a followup, last night we, again, had over 14 attendees at the club. Many skittles games were played while enjoying clubmember Russ Crawford's snacks and coffee. Thanks, Russ! Next week's meeting will be the last opportunity to pre-registry for the Snowstorm Special so be sure to attend.
