We have been asked by our meeting room sponsor, Park Circle Presbyterian Church, if we would like to support their monthly grounds maintenance on the first Saturday of every month. They meet at 9:00am and do two hours of general lawn maintenance and cleanup. Since we are provided the meeting room for free, this would be a good way to return the favor and show our gratitude for their generosity. If you can make it out on Saturday of this week, it would be very appreciated. Wear your work clothes and bring gloves! Its definitely for a good cause and it will put us in better standing with our landlord.

Russ Crawford and I were this month's volunteers at Park Circle Pres. Ch. We raked and bagged leaves with one of the church elders, Paul, for two hours. It was delightful work and the two hours went by fast. Many of the Hispanic church supporters were there and, with their help, the work went really fast and easy. It gave the grounds a good facelift and I'm sure are "pitching in" was well appreciated. I hope other CCC members will show interest and realize how this supports our club since our meeting place is provided "free of charge".

I had a wonderful time working with David. The conversations we had about numerous subjects made the time fly by. If any of you have not had the pleasure of conversing with him I encourage you to join us for the next cleanup and discover what a truly fascinating man he is.

If anyone can lend a hand this Saturday at the Park Circle Pres. Ch., it will be very helpful. I'm not sure if they'll be groundskeeping or just doing some building cleanup, but any volunteers will be appreciated. They start at 9:00am and finish at 11:00am, so the time spent is relatively short. Just tell them that you are from the chess club and they'll know you are part of the team. Any questions, just email me.
