For those that wonder why the Fischer- era chessplayers still idolize him, check out the video link at "chessbase.com". Fischer was not the "image" that the general public had of a chess genius, but came across as a typical modern athlete. He had a handsome, athletic image and a good sense of humour. His potential to promote chess was vast at that time, so with his withdrawal from the game, we lost the greatest chance to reach the pinnacle of sports. |
