All praise aside for my effort, it is time to look ahead towards the future of the CCC. As our calendar shows, the annual meeting is the first Wednesday of April, followed by our club championship. Those with ideas about improvements for our club should be ready to voice them at the meeting. Any bylaw changes must be sent to the membership far in advance of the annual meeting in order to be considered. Any interested members can see the current bylaws at our meetings. As for our club championship, generally it is a four round swiss event, but we are open to suggestions to make it better. Of course, participation is the first requirement in order to try out new ideas and formats. Another possibility we need to discuss is sending a team against both Columbia and Aiken chess clubs. Some of the details were discussed with Bill Taylor of the Aiken CC last weekend. This would be an exciting occurrance and would generate much excitement. Lastly, for the club next year, I have began considering improvements to the Snowstorm Special, both in promotion and prizes. I'll discuss it with interested members at any of the meetings. One necessary requirement to consider is for more volunteers and organizers to help me with the tournament, i.e., assistant directors, etc. I have found the task to be very rewarding and I certainly don't want to keep it for myself. Let me know if you are interested and we'll start the process early.
