I just read an interesting article on Yahoo! sports regarding the Flyers ousting from the playoffs in spite of their $57 million payroll. In his article, Rob Maaddi said, "But this time, the coach won't get fired, no star player will take the blame, and the roster won't be overhauled." Hmmmm... Let's focus on the point, "...no star player will take the blame." Some would argue this is a dig at Lindros, saying no star player caused the blame. On the other hand, there are those of us who would say this is a dig at the current Flyers' stars as none will stand alone and take the media bashings Lindros faced almost daily. Love him or hate him, you have to admit Lindros took a lot of grief for the team, not just from the team. I've heard some say he hoarded all the attention--I say his teammates didn't give him much of a choice. I don't remember too many times when any Flyer deflected the blame away from him. |
