I am a doctoral student at West Virginia University. I am researching the role of preacher miners and their churches who led the way organizing UMWA locals in Harlan County during the 1930s.
I am especially interested in the Church of God at Lynch and Closplint and the following men: Hamp Wooten, Rev. B.H. Moses, Rev. Marshall Musick, Rev. Bill Contz, Rev. Matt Hollars (probably from Jellico), and a "Brother Gilbert" who was the preacher at the Closplint Church of God when it was destroyed by dynamite in 1933.

Also interested in any information about the Lynch Church of God and the fire that destroyed it sometime at the end of 1932 to early 1933.

Any information that anyone has in relationship to my research will be greatly appreciated!!
