I have to mention about the works by Altus which issued 1967 Tokyo live of Kondrashin/Moscow Phil.. It`s really precious effort and devotion by producer Mr.Keisuke Saito.
I hope that also foreign funs of KK get
the series.

Hi,
where can I find these Altus recordings? Are they only available in Japan? I just ordered Kondrashin's Globe recording of Tchaikovsky sym 6 and Prokofiev/Liszt etc. with Fliyer. I very much look forward to them.

Thanks Ogawa. I've bought some Sofronitsky and Vedernikov discs from HMV Japan before but right now it's too epxensive. I've just received his Tchaikovsky 6 on Globe and it's amazing!

I selectively recommend you Mahler's 9, Tchaikovsky's "Pathetique", Shostakovich's 6 and 8. Those are astonishing.
Globe's pathetique is also good one. But, as Razdnikov said-who wrote interview book about Kondrashin-, after 1970s years, especially after the year 75, Kondrashin couldn't train very well Moscow Phil. because bureau interfered him continually.

I think the one of Tokyo live is the best of Pathetique. I also like a one which was only issued as LP record. Regretfully, it's not good record condition.

Thanks for that. I'll see if I can get a hold of his Tokyo recording of the Pathetique then, because I like the Globe one so much.

Mr. Ogawa, I agree, this Tokyo Pathetique is the best! The sound is a little bit light on the bass, but otherwise it's good, and the performance is exceptional. Thanks for recommending it!

Is the Melodiya CD recording of the Tchaikovsky Pathetique by Kondrashin a studio recording made in Moscow? Or is it the same recording as the 1967 Tokyo performance?
