This will most likely never happen. First of all, it is unknown just how much of George Harrison's contribution exists on the song. Secondly, with just Paul and Ringo left, it just wouldn't seem right. Thirdly, there has been some indication that like "Free As A Bird", "Now and Then" required further lyrical and melodic input, and again, with only two Beatles, what good would it do? Lastly, where would they tack the song onto? The "Anthologies" were released 10 years ago, and "Now and Then" was originally tapped for "Volume 3". If George were still around, I would say, "Yeah, definitely!" In fact, I'm a bit perturbed that, when given the opportunity, Paul, George and Ringo didn't do a whole album, utilizing even more of John's demos. I recently read an interview with Jeff Lynne that says that they had thought about it, but "time just didn't permit it". |

The whole concept Apple has made for new product is sad. Many fans have already gone it takes years for new product. There are so many products we are waiting for. That's the first thing. Second I hope Paul and Ringo complete with friends might do a great tour as Paul & Ringo & friends would tour with an orchestra to perform the sound they made so famous. They could use master recordings with stripped voices of John and George to perform a track like A Day In The Life. Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys has done tremendous well with a background of a small orchestra to create his studiosound like. Now Wix was there to perform all the extra sounds. But Got To Get You Into My Life is different with an orchestra or Wix's keyboards. This is too easy for an artist like McCarntey |

I, for one, think they could do it. If it was started with George, they could justify releasing it on those grounds after they make a ton more additions to it. They could add more guitars, maybe organ, vocals. It would be great to hear. In fact, to this day I'm still annoyed they didn't also finish GROW OLD WITH ME. I've always thought that's a great song that never had anything resembling a good recording. And it could, with those Beatle-like "ooh" harmonies, be the most hit-like of any of the reunion songs. In fact, it could have sounded not unlike HERE, THERE AND EVERYWHERE. Anyway, I think a CD containing two more reunion songs started with George but finished by Paul and Ringo, in addition to maybe some further outtakes from the vaults for maybe a special release, would be amazing. |

The only other reunion songs left that have been publicly talked about are "Grow Old With Me" and "Now and Then". It is unknown whether "Grow Old With Me" was even attempted, actually. But again, "Now and Then" apparently, like "Free As A Bird" is missing lyrics, and even a bridge, I believe. Was "Carnival of Light" committed to tape, by any chance? |

from Rolling Stone magazine, page 16, Issue 1027, May 31, 2007: Quote: In the studio, McCartney played Kahne a recording of "Now And Then," a song John Lennon wrote and recorded a demo for, and to which the surviving Beatles added parts during sessions for the 1995-96 Anthology project. The UK's Daily Express recently suggested that McCartney will release it as the first new Beatles track in eleven years. "I really liked it," says Kahne, who, like the Beatles' reps, can't confirm any plans for the song. "There are a couple of chord progressions in it that are just amazing." http://www.norwegianwood.org Norwegian Beatles Fan Club |

USA Today (05/06/07): "McCartney's future melds with ever-present past" -------------snip------------ The Beatles' catalog may expand with Now and Then, a late-'70s John Lennon demo that was considered for the mid-'90s Anthology series, which yielded the refurbished Free as a Bird and Real Love. McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr added parts to Now and Then, "but we gave up," McCartney says. "John's vocal on the tape, it's pretty bad quality, but emotional. With technology these days, you never know. I'd be interested to see if anything could be done. There is something there in the bushes." He'll talk to Yoko Ono, Starr and Harrison's widow, Olivia, before exploring a technological fix. It's just another item on a growing to-do list that he has promised his family will be set aside on June 18 for his 65th birthday celebration. -------------snip------------ http://www.norwegianwood.org Norwegian Beatles Fan Club |

The speculated track "All For Love". Not much is said but it has been thought that this may indeed be a Harrison/Starkey collaboration and not McCartney. One can wonder this as to a song on Ringo's new Cd Liverpool 8 where low and behold a song called "For Love" is included. It may be my imagination but it sure sounds Beatlesque in the Jeff Lynne anthology vibe.Maybe this is the one and Ringo had it finished off. If so why has it not been mentioned? Maybe it's his tribute to George without making it a big deal to sell as novelty. |

It is my understanding that the song has been finished since at least MAY 07 if not sooner. It is my understanding it will be a download bonus track when the download/remaster project gets underway later this year. I have spoken to one of the four principals on the "Board" and that person did not deny it. The person said it was not scheduled but that it was likely. |
