I couldn't believe there was a FBB website & forum. My kids think I'm weird because I like to watch that movie over and over. Other ones that come close for me are "Alive", "It's a Wonderful Life", "The Spirit of St. Louis", "The Glenn Miller Story", "Indecent Proposal". But I don't buy movies. Go wild.

Leaving Las Vegas is pretty similar in some ways to FBB. Slow pace, Similar themes, nice dark cinematography, jazzy score. understated male lead. Alot darker than FBB though. If you like Jeff then you'll pretty much like in any film he's in; he always give an interesting performance (even when he's let down by the films themselves). Maybe start with Fisher King or Jagged Edge. Pfeiffer never really did any more edgy material like FBB. She's good in Dangerous Liaisons but generally picks fairly safe films. She apparently played some good scenes as an alcoholic for Deep End Of The Ocean but it was considered too disturbing for the 'Oprah' audience and they cut it out. The director of Buth Cassidy & The Sundance Kid was apparently considered for FBB at one stage and watching the interplay between the 3 leads you can see why they thought he might be a good choice. You say you're in the US so I don't know how much access you have to foreign films, but you may enjoy alot of European films. Like FBB, they're confident enough with their characters to take their time with a scene where as most US filmakers tend to worry that an audience will get bored if two actors spend more than 30 seconds talking to each other (and you can generally forget about long, moody silences in modern US films). You'd need to tell us what you liked best about FBB before we could really recommend any more. MR MUFFIN SAVING THE WORLD FROM MUFFINS SINCE 1672

Bit hard to say what other people might like - look at the above post from Coast; she loves FBB but lists it alongside Indecent Proposal & Alive! Hardly 3 films you'd say are connected in style or content at all!

I think LOST IN TRANSLATION is the most Baker Boys type film I've seen in ages. Same humour and cinematography and emphasis on characters. Anybody agree?

Sorry i'm about 3 years too late with my suggestions to your viewing pleasure but you can try the following to add to your FBB DVD: 1)Priscilla, Queen of the Desert: - a funny and moving Australian story of Transvestites who go to give a show in Alice Springs - starring Terence Stamp & Hugo Weaving 2) The man who sued god - Again a wonderful australian film about the iniquities of the insurance industry - with Billy Connolly. Small films but well worth the couple of hours of pleasure they offer.

Steve Kloves wrote the adaptation to Wonder Boys. That's a great movie that few people saw.

Ok, old post, but here goes, with the same type of thematic material ... NONE. Ha. Seriously, though, Sabrina comes close, I always liked Murphy's Romance from 1985 (these are films with "love triangles." Otherwise, the light comedy "That Thing You Do" is pretty good, about musicians who make it big.

'sideways' is a good movie that i put in the same kind of general category. to me it has the same kind of 'romantic comedic' feel.
