past weekend was up at the lake all day and all night satuday and sunday nights, didn't see but one boat on the whole lake who pulled up to the marina( I was staying with some friend on a house boat) anyways asked how the fishing was.... he walked down to his boat pulled out two large mouths.........and his scales......... 10 lbs each, said he was catching some kind of albino salamander up near blue ridge and showed em to me, so seems theres some big bass still in carters.

the salamander being refered to is on the endangered species list, and is only native to parts of north georgia, found in the couldest of waters usually in under-ground springs. I believe the scientific name is Ambystoma macrodactylum. A word of caution though, if caught with these by any forestry of DNR fines are 1000 pluss for each specimen up to jail time. I personally do not believe in the use of live bait per say at all, its like hunting with a rifle..... children can do that not only men.

Dear John,
I am sorry to tell you that you are completey wrong about the name of the salamander's scientific name, as a for fish and game biologist for the DNR there is actually no such creature as an albino salamader as an idividual species, other that the ones which naturally occur anywhere in any species. People become spoofed by these little creatures, not because they are white, but change thier tone of skin color much in the same way cameleons do, for example, or in other words if you put one of the said salamaders in brown bucket instead of a white bucket: the sample will appear brown. In other other words, any fisherman can take any non-threatend salamander and turn it into whichever color needed for a certain time.

wow!!!!!!!! lots of action going on this site tonight. If anyone is ever fishing at carters july fourth weekend, stop by the marina and watch at least $500 + of fireworks, and afterwords listen to me, your friendly home to carters only bagpiper raddle off some tunes, or dont't be around the marina, be up the river, but you'll still be able to hear

I am appalled at all these stupid posts, yes they are all stupid and bogus, but lets not kid our selves. The only way to catch fish, the secret was leaked out a couple years ago on this forum, is as follows; 1 roll up the sleve of the right arm of your shirt, if you are not wearing a long slesve shirt find one. 2 Place the very tips of your finger into the water off the side of your boat. 3 very gently wiggle for fingers. 4 while wiggling you fingers you must say the magical fish call, which can only be taught and learned from the great Dermot Keily- onwer of the carters lake marina. its his bussiest time of the right now so make sure you call for a reservation . The carters lake marina business number can be found at www.carterslake.com . Leave any posts regarding this teknique one employed. 5 the fish will swim for miles to your melodious song into your hands and will willingly die for your cause.
