I am thinking about becoming a guide in northern Georgia , What kind of license do I need , Captains ? When you have customers go out with you do they need to buy a fishing license ? I have spoke to TVA , Forestry and Georgia State Licensing . Everybody says no . |

Hey, I have been guiding here for 20 years. I'll be glad to help you in any way I can. all you need to do is ask! You dont need a coastguard license for fresh water in Ga. If you work through a marina however you need a corp of engineers license if you are on a corp lake, I don't know what any requirements are for TVA as I have never worked a TVA Lake. Just let me know if I can help you guys out! Oh ps, Yes your customers will need a fishing license. http://www.carterslakefishing.com Georgia Mountain Guide Service |

Hey: Thank. Here in Florida you need a license for everything . To Charter you need 100 hours a year for five years on the water 500 hours total and a pass a captains test . Plus have an Occup license and insurance , but your customers are covered under your captain charter fishing license . I plan on fishing at Lake Nottley and Chatuge . I would like to relocate there but I still need to make a living . I am a Electrical contractor and if I could charter for a living rather than pull wire that would be great . Thanks ,Joe |
