Hey all, I have a question! So my wife is looking at getting a new bat. Not surprising, she finds the standard "slowpitch" softball bats the guys normally use (34in/30oz, 34in/28oz) a little on the heavy side, she likes the 26 oz bat we have on our team, but since she played women's windmill before, she feels like she could still go lighter for a faster swing. Fast pitch bats are usually MAX 23-25 oz... perfect right? So my question: Is using a fastpitch bat (which is still an "Official Softball Bat") allowed in our KDCSL league? I'm not asking about HARDBALL bats - I read the rules, I know they're not permitted... I just don't want to pony-up the cash and find out later we did something wrong. JT |

Yep, any official softball bat is OK. (2-1/4" barrel, with a legal handle etc.) |

Any "Official Softball" bat approved by the ASA et al. Pretty much if the bat has "Official Softball" on it, you should be safe |

A smaller softball bat is fine (although most teens and adults will find it a disadvantage). |

my understanding is that's "official softball"; ASA ISSSF etc etc. Some governing bodies don't accept other standards (ASA is the most stringent), but as long as it's "official softball", then it's not a hardball bat or some crazy modified bat. |

Modified bats would include an Official Softball bat that has had the end sawed off to fill it with sand or ball bearings or something. Those would not be allowed. |
