Canada and Cuba win taekwondo gold medals RIO DE JANEIRO, July 16 – Canadian Karine Sergerie won the women’s 67kg gold medal, after beating Heidy Juarez, from Guatemala, by 8-2. Cuban fighter, Angel Matos, showed his superior skills in the Men’s 80 kg finals and beat the American finalist James Moontasri 7-0. Chinedum Osuji, from Trinidad and Tobago, and José Luiz Ramirez, from Mexico, won the bronze medal, in the men’s event. The Venezuelan, Nohemar Leal and the Puerto Rican fighter Asunción Ocasio also got to the podim in the women’s dispute.
