My understanding of this "rule" is that NO, we do not have to sit under the driver's wheel to our first box. It depends on who is observing you as to whether they will even mention switching over. The only "rule" that I am aware of is wearing your seatbelt to your first box and from you last box back to the Post Office. (*Since we are paid by evaluation and we are timed loading our vehicles, unless someone intends on following me to my first box and times me RE-loading my vehicle I don't intend on starting out behind the wheel.)
