Yes, I can help you there. The Soviets are about Brute Force, so treat them as such. little strategy is required. Just remember that you need a well balanced army... lots of rhinos, a few flak tracks, and several drones scatered here and there. Drones are great for attacking armies who are fortifying up to attack you. Remember that anti-air is VERY important, especially near your war miners. Always make sure your miners don't fall prey to a tanks attack, so guard them. The most important thing to remember is that the one who builds more, faster, is the winner. Don't build apocs unless you have an EXCESS of money. By the time you've assembled a few apocalypses, they may have 15 grizzlies.

There are four keys to playing RA2 well: 1) Pay attention! Pay attention to what you're doing on the map, and what's going on! I always see players just not noticing what I'm doing. I'm setting up for a major attack, and he didn't amass his forces against me until I was in the base. 2) Learn what units can and cannot do! Know the details of each unit! Did you know that an apocalypse tank cannot fire when it's moving? Did you know that terror drones are immune to radiation? Did you know that mirage tanks are especially vulnerable to radiation? Did you know that the French grand cannon has a minimum range (i.e. it cannot fire less than about three spaces away)? Did you know that prism tanks have weak armor? Did you know that Yuri cannot control dogs? Did you know that tesla troopers cannot be run over by tanks or other vehicles? Did you know that flak tracks can run over infantry, while normal IFV's cannot? These are just a few of the many details of units and structures that you will need to learn in Red Alert 2. 3) Expand your base! (I cannot emphasize this enough.) If you think you can protect your miners and new base from attack, and there is a sizeable amount of ore in that space, then set up a new base in it! You see that ore field about a quarter of a map way outside your base? If you think you can protect it, then set up a base there and build an ore refinery. If ore near your base starts running out, then either retire some of your ore miners or send them out to those new fields. At the beginning try getting at least three ore miners going. If you have a field on either side of your base, then build an ore refinery next to each field at the beginning. It will make a world of difference! 4) This is last and most: Be creative and smart with your tactics! Tactics count for quite a bit! They can get you out of a tough spot. I remember when I was playing as Iraq on Heartland, and it was FFA. I had just beat the guy to the southeast of me, but I was weak militarily because of that. The other person left, a French player who hadn't attacked anybody, had like 16 mirage tanks and 6 prism tanks to my 8 rhinos. This was obviously a losing situation for me. So I retreated my tanks to my base and prepared to wait him out. He had killed all but about three of my rhinos when I retreated further back into my base. I moved my MCV away. I then remembered that I was Iraq, and I remember that I could build Desolators against whose radiation my opponent's tanks were weak. I built about five desolators--I still had a sizeable amount of money coming in, because I had expanded my base--and set them on either side of the main line of my opponent's attack force. I then deployed them, and the resulting radiation destroyed nearly all of them. (He did not pay attention.) I had been building more rhinos, and at that point I had about six total. I destroyed his weakened and diminished force. I then harassed his ore miners, so he could not rebuild. He attacked me with about eight prism tanks, which I destroyed. He surrendered, and I won. I played Libya once, and the other player played Russia. It was FFA and Heartland again. (One player I had destroyed, and the other was America.) I was in the northeast, Russia was in the southwest, and America was in the north. I had twelve rhinos. I wanted to set up a base on the southern part of the map, but I was worried about defending against both opponents. America had quite a few mirages, and Russia had six apocs and a couple of rhinos. Nevertheless, I destroyed the bridge between America and me, and I sent eight tanks to guard the MCV I sent south. I set up base and began building. Russia however moved his forces to attack me. I retreated after a brief initial battle and sent my MCV east near the oil derricks that was mine. I then manuevered around his slower tanks forcing them to chase me, while I quickly built terror drones. While the apocs were moving, they couldn't fire, so I sicced the terror drones on the apocs at that point. They all got in. After half a minute the apocs were nearly destroyed and were moving back to their home base. (They would not make it, however, for they were destroyed en route by the drones.) This encouraged America to attack Russia, which Russia would not survive. I built ten more rhinos. After they were almost finished, America attacked Russia. I sent almost all my tanks south (ostensibly to defend my southern base). America's force composed about ten mirages and four prisms. His prisms were on the eastern edge of the force and thus vulnerable to my tanks. While America was preoccupied, I attacked his prisms. I destroyed them all. I destroyed three of his mirages, before he finally lined up against me. I destroyed his force. My tanks did not linger afterward. I sent them back up to my northern base to prepare an attack against America's base. I repaired the bridge, and I sent my tanks across it, before America could do anything. I destroyed the tanks guarding his base and blew up all his buildings. I delayed in destroying Russia, I gave him an MCV he needed, and I built tanks until I had more than one hundred rhinos. I sent all one hundred plus rhinos against Russia, who had five tesla tanks and three rhinos, and overran him. I have more stories too, but I'll leave it at that. Anyway, I hope this helped you. ^_^
