Author Topic:   Question on Thor

George:
Just wondering, but what does that energy effect on Thor's hammer add to his attacks (like when he swung at Superman and Superman caught it)? Does it add physical force like a lightning bolt?
Thanks,
Rich

The hammer is Asgard's power manifested. It can contain an abundant of energy or mystical energy, which we know Superman is vunerable off. It also contains Thor's hidden power. Such as the ability to tranform himself to mortal flesh.
But no one can hold the hammer directly and live to tell about it. Even if he or she is worthy. Thor and the hammer are one and it is in his will to use it in anyway he wants too.
We've seen Thor use the hammer against his father once and even he felt the full effect.
But if you read some of Walter Simonson's, he shows just how powerful the hammer is. Thor summoned all the mystical energies against the Celestial gaints. It was so powerful in itself that the hammer couldn't contain the mystical energy, that it shattered into pieces.

The thing that makes me wonder, is that Thor's hammer is all powerful and it's magic. Why in the world would they depict Superman stopping the hammer, it happens in Thor's own dimension as well. I think that is total bull, I can't understand why Marvel is so willing to jobb their characters out like that. We all know, that Superman should have not stopped Thor's hammer and should have had this hind quarters handed to him. I am not even going comment on the Wonder Woman and Hercules battle which in itself is awhole another BS story.

I agree totally! Thor, whose ablities are mystical in nature, should not have been beaten by Superman! For years, it's been talked about how Superman's only other weakness than kryptonite is magic. How does he defeat someone whose basic nature incorperates mystical elements? He controls the weather not only on his world but on Superman's as well and he gets defeated? He's gone toe to toe with everyone from the Hulk to the Celestials and he gets taken out by Superman? That doesn't seem right.

Aha! Methinks I agree with you all! I always knew that George perez was ~EVIL~ and this only PROVES it! How DARE he be a part of such nonsense! You all SOUND just the same way I do! You are now convinced and have seen the light! You are OBVVIOUSLY going to practice what yopu preach and NOT buy the final issue or anything else EVER drawn by George Perez, written by Busiek, or published by Marvel or DC again...right? I mean, the way you all act so OFFENDED and DISGUSTED by the fact Thor was defeated (which, like it or not, WAS decided by ALL those mentioned above). Iam GLAD that you have come to MY way of thinking! Now you shall join me as a TRUE Perez-hater and never purchase ANYTHING by Perez, Busiek, Marvel, or DC AGAIN! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!
After all, if you were SO outraged over the outcome, it would make you hypocrites to buy the rest of the series, wouldn't it?

no one unless he or she be worthy shall possess the power of thor. Captain America and wownder Woman did it
and lets not forget that beta ray bill beat thor in Thor # 337.
No one else is more worthy than Superman. He has put himself and his life for the universe countless times. Even when he was temporarily powerless in the wedding issue he stopped some muggers and was about to get killed until he recieved some help from Batman.
Let's not forget either that Superman is a direct desendant/relative of Krypton's Supreme Sun God Rao. Making him more powerful than your average Kryptonian , Daxamite or Asgardian. The issues that specify this are Superman:Blood of My Ancestors and Superman: Last God Of Krypton. All Post- Crisis issues. SO BEFORE YOU MAKE BRASH STATEMENTS, REVIEW YOUR FACTS FIRST. Superman flew into the sun and then moved the entire planet Pluto w/ billions of tons of additional metal put on by braniac with thrusters firing against Superman. Moved it without any help. He can fly into the sun because he absorbs a little more power from the sun everyday increasing his near limitless strength and near invulnerability. So go cry me a river
