Hi everyone, I just want to give my two cents on Rich Bernatovech's massive book SENTINELS. I bought the book Friday and read it Saturday(started vacation). I really enjoyed the book and I'm looking forward to future issues. The book starts off with an excellent designed cover, that's a biggy when trying to sell a new unknown book. The production and printing is also top notch. Now on to the meat and potatos. Rich has created a quite unique bunch of characters, with each having his/her own personality, which is very important for keeping the readers interested in the story, especially a book of this length. Rich's character remind me a lot of the great New Teen Titan's of the the 1980's, not a bad book to be influenced by. Rich has created quite an epic. I'm really interested in what happened to Gospel. Originally I sat down just to start reading the book, being it was such a big book. Before I knew it, I finished it. Great combination of characterization and action through out. Great job Rich. Now on to the artwork by Luciano Vecchio and Rich. The artwork was down in a very clean and interesting style. Like the story the characters were drawn in there own unique original style, Luciano has a good grasp at drawing good looking people. The page layouts were quite good, good use of different angles. That always makes for a more interesting comic, especially one of this size. Now the biggest area for improvement is in the background art, for the most part there was none, there were a lot of fake effects and what backgrounds there were could have used a little more research to make them look more believable. Do more life drawings, the more you take from the real world the better the art will be. The perspective for the most part was fine. Fine tune on the backgounds and man the art will really jump out at you. Overall all a great effort. At a $14.95 cover price this book is a quite a bargain. Help support the future stars of the comic industry, and besides you get four or five really nice drawing of Rich's characters drawn by George Perez. So my overall rating would be 4.5 out of 5. I would love to hear what other people thought of the book. Tony Lorenz TLorenz101@aol.com
