Can anyone confirm that the band derived their name, complete with asterisks, from a piece of artwork, circa 1979, by Angus McKie? |

the band used to be called "smash at the blues" which was shortened to smash i guess, good idea the first name sucked. |

In the early Smash at the Blues days we also had a Bass player named Ady.I'm talking mid eighties, when Salv was on Vocals.If I remember rightly a promoter at the Bull & Gate venue in London just put Smash on the poster for a gig, and we adopted that.Soon after I used the asterix idea ,inspired by a M*A*S*H book I'd picked up in a a charity shop. |
