Has anyone purchased the yearbox? Do you think it is worth the money or are they just fobbing you off with excess stock?
Steven Smith posted 12/16/07 2:36 PM
I think the Yearbox looks really cool, and as there are lots of special and unique things in it, I look forward to it a lot. Roll on Tuesday!!!

We will see Steve, we will see

You'll have to buy one to find out about the contents though!!
Dave posted 12/17/07 10:28 PM
Perhaps those who are lucky enough to be chosen to buy these boxes (and take up this generous offer) will be kind enough to list what they actually find.

Happy to say that my order is on it's way and personally cannot wait to see what I get out of it. I collect most aspects of trading card market so am very curious to see what comes out as regards promo cards.
Just wish I'd known about this release earlier in the year, could have saved myself a fortune.
Chez posted 12/20/07 11:45 AM
Ok, I've had my Yearbox and below is what I feel are the best inserts, can anyone let me know roughly how much I've got, thanks:- The Avengers:-Costume AC-C4 Honor Blackman, A12 auto Diana Rigg, The New Avengers:- Gareth Hunt and Frank Thornton auto, CSI Miami MI-Ao auto and CSI Vegas, Casino Chip exclusing and sketch card of Nick Stokes by Warren Martineck, thanks xxx
Chez posted 12/20/07 6:48 PM
Not alot I know, I've checked the prices on some of the preview sets and most are on special sale on this website, as I expected and waste of £100, the Yearbox im my opinion was just a gimmick to get people to buy stock that Strictly Ink could not get rid of, very very disappointed and feeling extremely let down
minigiles posted 12/21/07 10:00 AM
Much as I am disappointed by the 'extra' content of the yearbox. Not the breakdown, just that it consisted of CSI stuff, not my cup of tea. I think that Chez did not too badly to get a Warren Martineck of any subject.
Steve Smith posted 12/21/07 11:50 AM
I think Chez did very very well indeed to get a Martineck sketch.
Steven Peters posted 12/21/07 2:39 PM
I think most good martineck sketch cards are held back at strictly inks hq.
I never got an invite. I think you all been done though by looks of it. You should get at least 3/4 sketch cards as half of them are pants.

I got 5 sketches from my 2 boxes. All CSI & new avengers but all I was after was a Robert Hack Dr Who sketch. If anyone has one for trade or sale let me know.
Steven Smith posted 12/22/07 1:16 PM
Similarly, I have a nice CSI Chris Henderson sketch up for swap for a Who sketch.

Sorry: here's my e-mail address for trading purposes.

Anyone else got any views on this Yearbox, I got another invite by email to purchase another box, to me that seems as though they are not selling as well as Strictly Ink thought, no wonder with the contents of my box, not as I expected at all
pukienl posted 1/9/08 1:34 PM
I have also bought 1 year box and was also very disappointed.
Got no special autograph cards just normal ones i all ready got and also 1 sketch card from nick csi series 3.
There are way to many boxes with only 1 sketch cards but were advertised as 1 to 3.

Yep I only got one sketch card too, they claim the contents to be worth £200-£400, I dont think so, maybe on another planet, come on Barrie your input please
Mark posted 1/12/08 10:28 AM
Some input from Barrie himself, however, would be an unexpected change from the norm.

I bought 4 Year Boxes in the hope of pulling some Who sketches, but only got 1. I have now discovered that the Robert Hack Who sketches that were all listed as being in the Year Box are now turning up on Redemption, which of course reduces the odds of getting one in the Year Box. I consider this false advertising, and if I had known this was being done I would NOT have bought the Year Boxes I did.
Krycek985 posted 1/13/08 6:29 PM
Iv been sent the email 3 times and so glad I didnt buy any as they sound like a load of old stock throw in some boxes as said before.
Chez posted 1/13/08 6:54 PM
Well I was suckered, thought I was honoured to have been sent an invitation, I declare now I will not ever buy from this site again, it was a definite rip off and just a way to get rid of excess stock, sorry but this is the way I feel, very very let down

HI All, there are always people who like devaluing
hard work. Of the 3 or 4 people who appear to be
unhappy with their yearboxes, they should write to
us and we will always see what can be done if there
is a problem, each one is unique, some obviously
more golden than the other, then again there are
also 263 buyers, most of whom have written saying
how great the yearbox is and have asked to re-
order. There is much more to the yearbox than a
sketch card, do not value it on 1 or 2 cards. All the
complaints here are welcome to stay, the yearbox if
you were invited is a collectors piece worth looking
after, if you are still waiting your invite, we will have
a couple available on the specials page soon. Barrie

If the yearbox was such a huge suscess story why add any remaining stock the the specials page ? People want to reorder dont they ?

Sorry to say I really ont agree with you Mark . I think SI prosucts have always been good and customer service great to me . If a case or box ratio was met they have always sent me the cards out that I was short .
The yearbox is the old duff product iv seen so far by SI .

Have all the people who are screaming rip-off and con at the company on an open public forum considered that they might have got a far better responce if they had sent a private email to Barrie calmly explaining your thoughts on the boxes and asking if anything could be done about it.
Marc posted 1/19/08 10:04 PM
I would like to say that I'm happy with my yearbox purchase. I'm not a dealer, just a casual collector and was really pleased to be sent an invitation. I haven't bought it as an investment, or to split up and sell on eBay at inflated prices, but because I enjoy collecting trading cards. I think SI do a great job, the product is good and I've yet to encounter a problem with their service. I'm looking forward to their future releases.
SFP posted 1/21/08 4:39 PM
I have to say I was not greatly impressed with my year box because some of it was not to my taste however the sets and cards were worth the money, and I cant complain about a company which sold me a case of Monochrome Doctor Who in which I hit 12 sketches in 12 boxes. If I had was not already buying so many cases of Heroes I would probably have bought some more boxes.
The one valid compliant I have seen is the Hack sketch redemption and I can only guess that was an error. Hammer and 2000ad will probably be just as good as Who was so there is a lot to look forward to this year.

I want to know why the thread on SI trading a Hack sketch (the ones that are all supposed to be in the yearboxes remember them ? ) for a Chris Achillos card .
Ste posted 1/24/08 7:04 PM
Probably because barrie and the other person came to a deal.
So you all see barrie is a nice guy.
Dont moan just ask and be nice and you might be ok.

I have to be honest, I did not buy the year box, not because it wasn't good value but because I already had the vast majority of the contents of the box, being a regular buyer of Strictly Ink products.
If I had not bought anything in the year, it would have been great value. Just my two pence worth.
Krycek985 posted 1/29/08 3:39 PM
Check out the news page "gossip groups talking and the general view was "WOW!" when our collectors filled up there "
Please SI show me who these gossip groups are as Iv really only heard negative things about the yearbox apart from a few comments here and there .
Chez posted 1/30/08 9:54 AM
I'm with you, I would like to know who these gossip groups are too, "wow" is not what I would describe the Yearbox
