Well iv'e been waiting for a long time to put this post on.I have finaly got my new York 3050 prestige horn with triger. I played it last night at band practise and i love it,it is brighter than my 10yr old besson, it resonates early, it sings, the tuning is spot on for me, it is more free blowing however you do have to feed it more air but not always faster air, production is more forgiving, it has no dead notes and has full tone through the entire rangeI certanley did'nt have to work as hard to get better results than my bessonHowever i do have to work out and get use to the trigger mechanism, as welli found there was some water getting cought somewhereWhen reading this remember that these observations are taken after only one nights practise, after i play it for a bit longer i will post again and see if i still feel the same way about the york 3050 preference horn with triggerin silver

Congrats! I'm so pleased to hear that you like the York. As I recall, my very first Alto Horn, which I acquired in very used condition back in about 1960, was a York. Anyway, it's a distinguished make and it's nice to hear that they still perform well.

The two York's are completely unrelated. VG, your York is American made. Dave's York is a new brand that acquired the old Besson tooling after the Music Group went belly up.

Thanks Vg.yes Craig you are right it is the old besson tooling and so far i think they have done a nice job with this horn. im am playing my Denis Wick #2 mouthpiece and so far still loving the instrument, however when you undo the turnbuckle for the trigger mecanism for the main tunning slide to tune it you get a buzz when playing between bottom E first line to middle B third line.A little adjustment needed.
