To Ian Blyth/John Shotton Many congratulations to all at the Club on achieving promotion this season. Its amazing to see so many people who were around when I played still involved and great credit to the community spirit, friendship and resolve that Tynedale always represented for me. It was an honour to have played for the club and with so many good players. I have some great memories of my time there good and bad. I hope you continue to build on this success and perhaps one day be the premier club in the region. A dream I know that still burns deeply for many`of the stalwarts of Tynedale. My involvement in rugby is limited to the occasional game for Richmond Heavies, which is great fun, but hurts the morning after. I am still involved in mentoring players with professional potential when I have the time. This weekend I am saying goodbye to Richard Hill as a player, whom I had the pleasure of coaching when he was younger and then for nearly 4 seasons at Saracens. I once told him he would never make a flanker (if he didn't develop his speed). I think I once told Wallace he was a flanker (he may have misheard me) and got punched on the chin for my trouble! I have many great memories of Tynedale and was particularly indebted to Ian, John Shotton and Bill Dinning ( a very special man) for trying to keep my excesses under control. I wish the Club continuing success and hope its holds onto the core values that makes Tynedale special. Best wishes Rob Cunningham |
