I have been lucky enough to breed 54 Japanes Quail this season and sold quite a few. However due to male and female ratios I have about 15 Males left I have 4 in one cage and 9 in another arox 4ftx2ft and 2 individualy caged. I also have two family units. My problem is that when the males start to become sexually mature they start fighting or getting sexually agressive with each other to such an extent they are drawing blood and losing large amounts of feathers. Is there any way of stopping this other than individual cages which is impractical

male quail will fight this is enevitable, its called the pecking order where by birds squabble over position. there are various sprays available to stop poultry pecking each other, i personally think they are useless. in your pens where your males are try and put things likesmall plants etc< i found that if the quail have some where to run and hid this makes them less agressive and usually after a small chase the give up
