I have just built a 'cage' to keep birds of a couple of small Cherry trees.
It's 2mH x 2mW x 1.1mD.
I thought it would be nice to have some quail in there.
I'm in West Cornwall, so have quite mild weather. The floor of the cage (maybe aviary) is almost draught free just inside a wall.
Would a few quail live there alright ?
Would they need a nest box/roost ?
What 'sex' ratio should I look for, for eggs ?
Is there anything that I need to consider before going too far ?
thanks for your time.

hi, i would put in the cage a small hutch/coop, raise off the ground a bit for the quail to take shelter in and keep dry. I Adapted 2 rabbit hutches and built caged runs onto them. You dont need males (unless you want to inubate your own eggs), but if you do 1 male to 3 or 4 females is a good ratio. if you want any more help, email me... I too am from West Cornwall.
