I have been campaigning for better treatment for the disabled when parking on the weston super mare front. (called beach road)north somerset council have imposed a l hour free parking facility along the whole of the 1.5 milke seafront road in this town.Formerly a 3 hour "free to park" was imposed on every one of the 1.000 plus parking spaces. Every disabled person is now required to pay for any extra time over the 1 hour. I have pointed out to the council that every blue badge owner can park even on all double yellow lines for a maximum of 3 hours.l hour does not permit a wheel chair or other walking aid to be taken from the car, installed and returned to the car. This allows no time for refreshments to be taken along the seafront. north somerset council have imposed extreme restrictions in all council owned car parks in and around the town of weston super mare. They do not want the disabled visitor to enjoy the emenities of the coast. They do not want to offer FREE parking to the disabled beyond the one hour. This is disgraceful and undermines the work of organisations working hard to improve the lifestyle for the disabled. write,e-mail or telephone the north somerset council with your strong views for FREE DISABLED PARKING ON THE FRONT AT WESTON SUPER MARE.the chief executivenorth somerset counciltown hallweston super marenorth somerset bs23 1aewww.n-somerset.gov.uktel: 01934 888 888
