PERMISSION TO CROSSPOST FAR AND WIDEHello fellow animal-lovers, I am writing to voice my concerns regarding ebay auctioning live animals in other countries. Ebay China, Ebay Mexico, and Ebay's newly launched classified ad site Kijiji all offer live animals for sale. Ebay has also joined forces with MercadoLibre in Latin America and in return they will recieve 19.5% ownership interest in MercadoLibre. This site also sells involved with at least three different sites associated with selling animals. Due to thousands and thousands of angry emails this market was not brought to the United States. On these sites I saw ads selling animals; some as cheap as $5.00 and some are "Free to Good Home". I was disappointed that Ebay would exploit animals this way to "make a buck". What does fate hold for these innocent animals? They may end up as bait in the dog fighting arena. They may end up being ritually sacrificied. I feel that Ebay is supporting puppy mills and back yard breeders. Millions of animals are euthanized and Ebay is adding fuel to the fire. Instead of obtaining a pet from Ebay people could be adopting from shelters. These sellers are not screening adopters. I am sure Ebay sites come in handy for people looking for bait in the dog fighting arena or a testing object in a research lab. The Ebay China site auctions animals for meat and fur which is a BIG market in China. These animals are skinned alive or electracuted. I wrote to Bill Cobb and his assistant wrote back to me justifying what Ebay was doing with two words: "cultural differences". I understand that China has "cultural differences" but why does Ebay have to participate in these Chinese markets. Basically what this means is if they had a site in a country that allowed child prostition they would be comfortable with selling children into prostitution. Ebay has no ethics and is supporting animal cruelty. I was a loyal ebay customer and now I have decided I will never shop with ebay again. Please take a stand and tell eBay to stop the sale of animals on their sites-INTERNATIONALLY. Do this for all the animals.Sincerely,Mone't MazzolaHere is where they sell dogs on Mercado Libre in Mexico-http://listado.mercadolibre.com.mx/-_CategID_1072_FiltroId__PrCategId__PriceMax__PriceMin__SearchBoth_Y_JSEAHere are dogs for sale on eBay China:http://home.listings.ebay.com.cn/__W0QQfclZ3QQfromZR11QQsacatZ1283QQsocmdZListingItemListhere is where they classify live animals in other countries besides china and mexico (like canada)www.kijiji.comTHE PETITION TO STOP EBAY ANIMAL CRUELTYhttp://www.thepetitionsite.com/takeaction/356008925?ltl=1136864378 PETITION TO STOP DOG & CAT FUR TRADEhttp://www.heathermillsmccartney.com/petition.phpWHO TO CONTACT TO VOICE YOUR CONCERNSPLEASE BE POLITE WHEN SENDING CORRESPONDENCE- ANY IGNORANCE WILL GO AGAINST OUR CAUSE Margaret Whitman, President and CEOeBay, Inc.2145 Hamilton Ave.San Jose, California 95125Fax: 408-376-7401MEG@EBAY.COMWilliam C.
